The carpenters arms is a far larger pub than one would expect from its frontage. Opposite a large area part green and part heath you find no car park, but uninterrupted roadway with no double yellow lines. Sitting on the top of a hill there are many walks from here. The common society lists route and even provides maps, but the signposts are good. So you have found a good place to start a dog walk, a ramble, or cycle. Wear boots as this is mainly farm land and can be muddy in wet weather. The pub itself has a traditional bar, a small patio looking over the common, which is all very cute and rural. The ceiling is beamed and the walls have pictures of dogs, whippets I think or maybe greyhound. To the rear you enter a large and well lit restaurant. A large bear garden with seating. Nice volumes of food on a plate. Service on a Sunday, needs to be better, we left feeling a bit ignored. There was a long delay between starter and main. We had to ask to have the table cleared, find someone to reordér drinks and then the staff started blowing out candles and clearing around us at 6pm, but not clearing our table. A shame as we had heard such good things. Will give it a second go, but it's location and charm won't make up for poor service. Could easily be a 5 star, but wasn't

Our local pub, so we go often. The food never disappoints, they are always accommodating for kids, allergies and special requests. But they have really outdone themselves with the mothers day menu. The food was superb, and all who had roast said it was bar none the best they've had in a pub. Service was great too!
Beautiful place to eat. Friendly staff and delicious food. The food was presented most beautifully, I ordered sea bass, mashed new potatoes, spinach and a poached egg. It tasted soo good and looked even better I just wish I had taken a photo of it now. The service was very fast and the venue welcomes well behaved dogs. We had lunch there today. The service was excellent, as was the food. Our waiter was helpful and polite. I had booked a table, told them of our difficulties and these were all acted on. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will return
Great New Year meal after a muddy walk with the family and dog. Obviously busy but pleasant and efficient staff and the food roasts were excellent. Will definitely return.
One of the better roasts I've had at a pub. The rolled pork belly was brilliant along with the red cabbage and gravy. Roasties however werent crispy. Service was a bit average but overall a nice experience.
Great meal as usual. Prices seem higher than before but at least my stake was very good. Welcoming to family and dogs too
If you're gluten-free then this is the place for you. The chef has clearly made it a mission to provide really good GF food and has succeeded. Both mains and desserts can be GF and you wouldn't know the difference. There's even some GF beers from the local Westerham Brewery. On top of that the food is excellent, good portions, served by helpful and friendly staff. Can't fault the pub at all.
Food is nice but service is appalling. We went for lunch, with two babies in our group we didn’t get our meal for over an hour and 40 minutes. We were one of the first to be seated and last to be served. Avoid.
