Had been looking forward to visiting The Bookshop after reading Diary of a Bookseller. The Bookshop is really quirky and magical with a great selection of books; a real labour of love. The staff, including Captain the cat were really friendly and welcoming! It was also a pleasure to meet Shaun and to report that he was not at all grumpy .
WOW, just WOW. What a bookshop deserves its title of biggest book shop in Scotland. You can spend all day in here and lose track of time. Just Typical as i didn't find what I hoped for but my wife found several for family and friends.
Could have spent much longer looking around this veritable maze of books. Would definitely recommend a visit!
Great book shop with the most amazing amount of books very old to new. Well worth a visit.
The shop itself is a piece of artI was wandering inside during one late afternoon and it was truly an amazing experience. As a Hong Konger, I was so surprised to see a special section about my hometown! I bought a signed copy of Confessions of a Bookseller written by the shop owner Shaun Bythell as my souvenir of this wonderful experience. Thanks for keeping the reading culture alive.
The book shop is simply idyllic! I purchased two of the same book whilst in store - hard back and paper back of Iliad by Homer. The lady running the shop was warm and neighbourly. She went above and beyond in trying to help me find what I needed!
Think the biggest bookshop in wigtown, a bit tight in places to get round but worth a visit, also a lovely town to walk around and plenty of bookshops, also went to the nearby nature reserve and not forgetting to visit the wigtown martyrs stake .
Didn’t meet Shaun or Captain but did find three books to buy. Wonderful bookshop stuffed with character and books too, loved our visit
This place is brilliant! There is so much variety in the books you can get practically any genre of text that you want. You can get children's books and even books written by the shop owner. All round a great place for any book lover
Staff are super friendly and helpful and theres so many beautiful books
