What a gem. Had coffee and cake. Peaceful, homely and quiet setting. Friendly service. The coffee was really good especially for the price. Would definitely stop again.
Disappointed, only had beans/mushrooms on toast, the toast was burnt both sides on both meals, worst side facing down. When I brought it to their attention the reply was " it's only burnt on the edges" !!
Lovely cafe upstairs in a local bookshop. However, it's up a steep flight of stairs so not accessible to all which is a shame. Once there the food is good, their cakes are great! There is a quiet section with leather sofas, a standard seating area and kids are catered for with a small secure play space. Great place for a spot of no hassle present buying as there are inexpensive but quality bits and bobs to buy such as mugs and pictures. Quirky and chilled it's our go to place for coffee when in town.
What a fabulous bookshop with so much more quality gifts and toys. Unable to go upstairs as I use a mobility scooter but I so enjoyed the shop downstairs and the Take away bakes also very yummy. I will be back, thank you for a lovely shopping experience
They make the best and biggest cream tea ever. Lovely comfy settees in the window. Childs play area with a settee and a table enclosed as well. Rather a steep stair case to access the cafe not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
First impression is that place looks a bit dated. That said it is not a real issue. Great news is that it was warm. Extensive menu with very good options for vegans and vegetarians. Busy environment at times.Friendly staff. Comfy section with sofas just perfect for that newspaper session.
Stumbled across this place by accident and what a great find. Its upstairs in a book shop. Kind of old fashioned decor, which gave it a unique cosy feel. Offers a wide range of vegan and vegetarian options, plus amazing homemade cakes. Even offer a vegan cream tea. Very reasonable prices. Appeared very popular. A real treasure. I like the fact that Exmouth has maintained many of its independent shops and cafes.
Visited this place twice. 1st time the staff although polite was rather brusque. Wanted veggie breakfast but had just missed the last service so chose beans & mushrooms on toast. The second time was awful staff again polite but brusque ordered beans & mushrooms on toast again. Took a while but was busy so not a problem. Took my 1st mouthful & could taste burnt toast. Will not be visiting again. Rather than do new toast the cook had covered the burnt toast & hoped it wouldn't get noticed. Upon leaving we said to them that it was burnt & the response was "oh sorry, it was only around the edge"
Love this place. Tucked away up a staircase at the back of the bishop, this is Exmouth's best kept secret. Lovely wholesome and fresh food, including lots of veggie, vegan, gf options. Great little kids play pen area, but also has an adults only 'quiet zone' which is perfect for doing a bit of work on the laptop with a coffee, or just people watching it the 1st for window.
Recently started on Fridays home made bread you can take home, it is delicious my only quibble is can it be packaged in compostable to stop plastic invasion! Lovely homely space children friendly area, creatives can display their art, food excellent. Restful
