The staff were very helpful and easy to get along with. The food was excellent and the overall atmosphere in the pub was great! Would definitely recommend!!

Much improved under the new management, with spacious seating options for larger groups. Very affable bartenders and good service througout.

It's not the same place as it was when I first started drinking there last century but still pretty good. The bogs are upstairs now.

Disappointing selection of handpumps, so opted for an inevitability overpriced keg beer, Brew Dog IPA. My initial menu selection was unavailable and I ordered the 'Classic Club' instead. Sandwich duly arrived, but the 'bloomer' turned out to be standard white tin of a spectacularly poor quality. When the barman asked if everything was OK, I told him it was curiously lacking in flavour, his reply was fairly nonchalant and suggested my choice of drink was, perhaps, partly responsible. Given that I usually drink stronger and more flavoursome beers, I assured him it was the bread that was primarily at fault here. Again, my comments were brushed aside as if unimportant. Should've gone to Wetherspoons after all; they know how to treat customers and, whilst their food is hardly gastropub, it's inexpensive and tastes of something. Neither of which could be said for the Blackbirds; definitely won't be going there again (will avoid the chain's other pubs too).

Definitely a better pub after it's recent refurb. Appeals to the masses, is better lit and serves pretty good food. So now a venue for lunch/ dinner parties. We'll done the Blackbirds!
