Stayed for 1 night with a mate in a large twin room during a motorcycle trip. What an amazing pub. Rooms were immaculate and well equipped. Food was amazing, both evening meals and breakfast. Staff were polite, helpful and friendly. This is a 6 star venue. You won’t be disappointed ******
Had a very poor Sunday roast here. Undercooked roasties & barely warm beef served with dreadfully cooked carrots & a veg pie with no discernible taste which certainly wasn't the Wellington l ordered. Served up by a waitress who l could hardly hear. Had friends over from France & l didn't want to make a scene. Shame as it looks like a nice pub for a pint. The head lady & head waitress were good or would have been 2 stars.
A lovely, charming pub. Been here a couple of times when visiting family in the area. Very friendly service, delicious fresh homemade food. Will definitely return when in the area.
Great local village pub with comfortable rooms above to stay in on the first floor. I stayed for one night and had a very pleasant time - the food was good, the staff were lovely and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The highlight was the cooked breakfast which was not only the perfect size to staff the day, but one of the tastiest I'd had in years. If you're in to it, it's a fantastic location to take a bike ride from with sandwich bay and the main town less than ten miles away. There's also plenty of footpaths less than a stone's throw away to take a wander down.
Small pub located in the countryside, with beautiful decor and a good selection of drinks available, both well known brands and local selections being offered. The food was fantastic, and I couldn't fault it. I would come here again, most definitely.
Lovely service, tasty food with several vegan options and great value.Service: 5/5
Really lovely country pub with decent food and really nice people behind the bar. Sunday roast is pretty decent and a lovely sized portion
we spent a couple of nights there, having dinner as well. Big meals and good and tiny accomodations. We're gonna repeat.
We went for dinner on a Saturday evening, it wasn’t busy at that time. Service was easy and prompt, the food was pretty fast to arrive. There were not a lot of food options to choose from, but there were meat and veggie options. The food itself was fine, but not as good as my local hosts had said it would be unfortunately. I wouldn’t avoid, but I wouldn’t rush to return. The bacon I had was not cooked enough, the bready things on my partners meal were rubbery as if microwaved, my ice cream had ice in etc… none of these things are complain worthy. But they just added up to leave a less than 5 star experience. The staff however were friendly and polite. The pub itself has real character and looked very clean.
The pub is circa 1588, the year if the Spanish Armada and the building is very interesting. What a fabulous, traditional village pub with an excellent range of drinks served by such a friendly girl behind the bar. We also visit over the Jubilee weekend and enjoyed the pig roast in the garden. The village no longer has a village shop but the pub provides a shop which supplies a good number of necessities. We visited 3 times during our visit to a local campsite and we couldn't have felt more welcome. We will definitely visit again when in the area.
