Wow what an impressive building from the front and stepping through the entrance it gets better but that still is not anywhere near as impressive as the main dining area. This has got to be the best pub I was visiting London for the week and just had to get on a train and visit just to experience this place and then back to London. I love how it literally feels like they did their last performance and the next day opened up as a wetherspoon pub. This place really is worth a long distance travel just to experience it I did and I loved it. Also the staff was friendly and helpful and the food was great. This place deserves more than the maximum 5 stars.
Definitely worth checking out the maddest Wetherspoon location in U.K. Absolutely brilliant venue with a cool vibe. The place itself is five star however the food is a let down. Ordered the American cheese burger which arrived as a tiny dry tasting burger with a small amount of sauce on a plate with a few chips. Lacklustre.
While a lovely venue, extremely disappointing visit. Slow service and extremely reduced menu. So hard to order any food as nothing in stock. Steak meal was badly cooked and my daughter's Pigs in blankets were burnt. When asking the manager about this I was informed that is how it comes. Will not be coming back. The person next to us only had half their order delivered as well. Not the usual standard I have come to expect from Wetherspoon.
A beautifully presented Wetherspoons with all the character of the old opera house and all the value of Wetherspoons. The service was friendly and quick and the food, was nicely presented and excellent value for money, it tasted great too.
Came in for a Christmas dinner with friends pre booking was a joke. The Christmas dinner comprised of turkey roll, mash with under cooked veg with no taste. Not a roast potato in sight. Food served at different times in our group completely ruined the atmosphere of dining with friends
The Opera House in Tunbridge wells is now a J D Wetherspoons pub and it is one of the most elegant in the chain. It is a grade II listed building and occasionally still hosts operas. Lovely to have a meal in the splendor of an old Opera House all at Wetherspoons excellent value.
The decor is stunning, defiantly a place to visit. As it's an open space, and designed to carry sound, it was, however quite noisy, it wasnt even that busy and very much felt like a pub which is it in the middle of a weekday, so can't imagine whay it would be like in the evenings or weekend. Distracted from the beautiful interior.
Fantastic place for food and a drink, we were thoroughly blown away by the decor
Chain pub with a nice decor providing a place for quick & cheap sit down food & drink within the town centre... The building was originally built as an opera house, opening in 1902 and becoming a cinema in 1931, it then made the transition into a bingo hall and then finally converted to a Wetherspoons pub... The atmosphere overall is nice and usually frequented by the local community, usually quite packed come lunchtime/evening much like all Wetherspoons Inn general... food ranges from pub grub, to burgers and pizzas which is altogether cheap and cheerful...
A wonderful building in central Tunbridge Wells. Well done to JD Wetherspoon for restoring it to it's former glory. The interior is breathtaking. My wife and I popped in there to have lunch. The food was excellent and the ale and wine were first class. I highly recommend a visit and will give The Opera House ten out of ten for eveything.
