I run the retro gaming nights on the 3rd thursday at The Big Comfy Bookshop and the owner is brilliant. Very flexible owner for arranging events. As a customer I love coming here, relaxing, and having a slice of lemon drizzle cake - which I highly recommend!
Excellent place! Great venue for such sublime acoustic gigs. Loved it.
I visit regularly, but still not often enough. Always a good selection of books, cakes, and tea, and nice coffee to boot. Events many evenings live music, book club, quizzes.... The owner clearly makes an incredible effort with the help of his brilliant staff for there to be so much going on here. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area - or even if you’re not!
Never eaten here but visited 3 times for books. Never seem to find a parking space nearby so always park in the city centre and walk, which poses problems when I've had to carry heavy bags of books back in the baking sunshine. The shop is well served for fiction and prices were reasonable for the multiple non-fiction military books I purchased. 1 star removed as no bulk discount offered.
Called at 3.05pm on a Friday and the place is locked up tight - looked great, but couldn't get in to see.... Couldn't find anything on your website, Google or Facebook except that you were open until 4pm. Perhaps if you always shut early on a Friday you could change your opening times on all the above pages? We had travelled quite a way to visit several local book shops.
I really like The Big Comfy Bookshop! It is a quant used book shop that is family owned. The owner spent over a year compiling books to open his shop, and ever since has kept a good variety of books that are unique to customers, or a popular search result of a used book. There is always fresh coffee, tea options, beer and wine, and some sort of snacks like crisps or cake for sale. Seating is available to hang out with friends for a little while or to start tucking into your future purchase. Also I noticed that live folk music nights and game nights regularly occur here too! Great place!
We went to Fargo Village for the Summer Maker's Market, and stopped here for a nose through the books, but then stayed for some lunch - it was lovely! A good range of books, plus the food was tasty and really reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit, great customer service
Very friendly shop, full of out of print books. Music is played at pleasant volumes rather than deafening. Nice cup of tea available. An oasis of calm in the madness of commercially. Well worth visiting
It was so cosy and nice, the cake is delicious and vegan friendly and there is a wide range of books, with little riddles around the shelves, along with lovely artistic messages, notes and writing. I highly recommend!
Good selection of books, great music, delicious food and lovely comfy atmosphere... Ticks all the boxes - one of my favourite places in Coventry! Definitely worth a visit.
