The Big Blue

Great little chippy! Visited while passing through the area, and very glad we did. The chips were good, and the fish was awesome. The whole time we were eating, a constant stream of customers appeared, and it's obviously a local institution. I especially appreciated the efficiency of the boss asking if you had any fish to order as soon as you walked in the door. Only a few seats available inside (maybe 6), but it looks like they have some outdoor seating for the warmer months. If we stayed in the area more than one night, we definitely would have visited again.

Disappointed wife had Hadock which was nice. I had steak n ale pie which was only Luke warm. Chips needed longer cooking some were hard. Peas were also not very hot. Good lob I had a microwave to heat my pie up.

Usually a good experience and great food, walk in tonight not a hello from the staff but we close in an hour! I tell the lady what I want she writes it down wrong, so I say it again she repeats and it’s still wrong so I correct her. Had to have sausage because no chicken breast or steak pudding. Pay for for 4 meals that I have ordered and thought that was a bit expensive got home and I’ve got 5 meals! Worst experience and shocked as I was impressed at this chip shop at first but will go back to my local in future!

Nice chips but my fish has been over cooked on every occasion. I have returned because you can't condemn somewhere on one visit and I hoped on each visit it would be better. Good pies better than the average offered in chip shops in general

Just had haddock, peas and chips for my good Friday tea.....GORGEOUS!!! Big queue but definitely recommended 😋😋😋
