Great pub and atmosphere. We never ate just had drinks while we went from pub to pub. So much outdoor space, place in the summer must be so hard to get a table. Good selection of drinks.. Outdoor bar area so no need to go inside to order.
Solid, spacious and good-looking gastropub. Food was tasty and filling. Service was friendly and prompt. If you’re really hungry, I’d recommend the Bangers & Mash.
A seriously underrated pub at 4.1 out of 5 stars!! One of the best roasts I’ve had in years - fantastic quality, portion size and service. Beautiful venue, tons of indoor and outdoor space with very stylish decor too. Would definitely recommend!
Nice big pub with a decent lunch menu. I haddock n chips, the group had a mix of everything else. All were satisfied. The service was good too.
It was a very nice place for a Sunday roast day with a group of friends. Great decor and very friendly staff. The roast chicken was great but roast pork seems a bit too “gammon” hence a bit salty. Beware that the parking along the main road needs to pay parking even in a Remembrance Sunday!
I wanted to to say how much we enjoyed our visit to the Bickley. The Camden room was ideal for our purposes and your staff were very attentive and pleasant, happy to keep running up and down the stairs. We all enjoyed our meals which were tasty, hot when appropriate and each course all arrived together. It was lovely to have a Staff Christmas Lunch reinstated after the Covid years so we could relax and just enjoy the afternoon in our own private space. Many thanks again to your staff. Wishing you all a happy and busy Christmas and New year. Also it was lovely to find somewhere with a private dining room so local to us in Bickley.
This is just down the road from where I live and as I was meeting a pal who lives in Orpington two stops on the train for lunch, we thought we'd try it. I really liked it - we had a great welcome from our waitress who was polite, friendly and efficient. There was plenty of room at the tables and whilst it was a fairly quiet lunchtime, we were by no means the only people there. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the food tasty. I had the black pudding sausage roll and the Bickley Burger which were both very good and well-presented. I skipped dessert but was delighted to find that the coffee had a decent, strong flavour. So, this was a really enjoyable lunch, nothing fancy but it was exactly what I wanted. It was very nice that when my guest asked if he could have chips instead of mash with his sausages, it just wasn't a problem. Clearly, the experience of a fairly quiet lunchtime will be different from a very busy evening or summer afternoon when the spacious garden is full, but this was a really nice lunch in a really nice pub!
We visited last night for my friends birthday. We are not from the area and thought this looked nice from the google reviews. We were sorely disappointed. The venue and menu prices suggest top quality. We ordered wine, starters and a main each. The mushroom starter - although nice was 9.90 for one tiny piece of bread with mushrooms on it. Vastly overpriced. Then the mains. My friend ordered a trout. What was served her was a fish fillet hardly bigger than my thumb. And three boiled new potatoes. For £18!! We complained and were offered a free bottle of wine so we accepted and then my meal and my friends arrived. Game pie. I’ve never seen anything like it. Hardly any meat at all - and what was in there was gristle and barely edible. It was meant to be 3 different types of game but all we could taste was fat and gristle. Plus only two stems of broccoli. If this had cost 7-10 pounds I wouldn’t have complained but £20?! You can’t charge Mayfair / Michelin prices if you serve rubbish. We made our feelings clear to our lovely waiter can’t fault him at all and at the end mentioned it to the chef in the kitchen ourselves. The chef was defensive and clearly was annoyed that we’d complained. Needless to say we won’t be recommending this place to anyone and I’m leaving this review as a warning to others.
Food was tasty. Prices on a higher side but not bad. Place is close to the station so that is convenient for people, who travel. I just didn't like very small tables for couples, located close to other tables, with too many things on them and a steak without a right knife.
Just had a rather disappointing experience coming here for a group Sunday roast. We pre-ordered several weeks in advance and paid a deposit, but were kept waiting for almost half an hour for our table, and then it was a good 45 minutes after that before our starters arrived. It was not ideal as we had small children with us who were starting to get cranky waiting for their meals! We did get a discount off our bill which was appreciated but honestly the whole experience was pretty chaotic and given that we had booked and preordered everything so far in advance, I would have expected things to be a bit smoother!
