Original review February 2022, updated April 2022 I have visited the Barrel & Horn pub many times over the last 5 years and this is one of the best pubs to come too for their beer selection. The staff know the beer selection well and are always happy to share information about the drinks. Although I have eaten many items from their menus over the years, I prefer their weekday menu over the roast dinner options. Only once has there been a shortage of a menu item in the kitchen, the chef offered an alternative sauce that worked really well in the burger. The pub itself has a nice relaxing atmosphere with some quirky interior designs. Toilets are always clean and well stocked. It is dog friendly and the price range charges typically what the pubs in this area charge. Update: I have visited 4 more times and the new menu choices and execution has definitely bumped up the star rating to 5 stars. Really great to see them bounce back despite the challenges the hospitality industry are facing right now.
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Monday night has a great trivia night. L Food is on point. Recommend the Hummus and wings for sure. And ALL the best craft beers wide selection. Most I've seen in Bromley
We are literally in LOVE with this Pub. Definitely one of the best we have been in South East London. Spacious and cosy at the same time. They serve great food: their menu includes a succulent traditional Sunday roast and if needed vegetarian or vegan options. Great for family: during weekends they have a corner with professional entertainers where children can do craft for free. The staff is always super friendly, fast and professional. Well done to The Barrel & Horn.
A nice restaurant/bar/pub/place to go and chill, eat and drink. Friendly staff. A very wide choice of drinks are available, especially craft ales. Nice choice of food, tasty and reasonably priced.Interesting and fun decor, very welcoming and warm. Dogs very welcome. Games area is fun. Smoking area out the back, not great when raining. Definitely one of the better places to head to in Bromley.
Very nice atmosphere, friendly served. Delicious food and in good portions. Everything I've tasted was full of flavour, congratulations to the chef! Several cool areas for different groups of families or friends and couples or the bar for solo. I would come back for sure. Fully recommend this place.
Quite literally the best roast dinner I’ve ever had in my life. Great selection of craft beers, amazing negronis. Staff are super welcoming and friendly! All members of staff have a great knowledge of craft beer. Can’t wait to return :
I had my Christmas party here, the staff are friendly and the drinks very well priced. Lovely pub, but the Dj for the night made it the best! Non stop great songs form start to finish, having everyone up and dancing! Would definitely come back, time and time again. Such an amazing night, the atmosphere was so good, I'm still on a high from the brilliant Dj!
Nice drinks, friendly staff and welcoming to families. The food was generally good except for the mac and cheese, which was weird. The pasta was overcooked and there was little to no cheese at all in the white/greyish thick sauce, which had lumps of flour in it. Putting that aside, I would return.
Chris the bouncer is AMAZING!!! He makes women feel safe in the venue. After getting away from some creepy men at another bar. Despite being late for entry, Chris was able to enable us to get out of a potentially dangerous situation and I cannot thank him and his colleague enough tonight. Will definitely be returning. Very reassuring to know that the security guys have high levels of professionalism and care about their community. Go Chris the Bouncer!!!!
I really wanted to rate this pub higher, the interior design was lovely and the vibe was great. That was until we were served by the staff. Maybe its because my friends and i looked younger so they didn't want us there but the fact we got that impression at all is abysmal. Its not hard to be polite or nice, a customer is a customer no matter their age. And its not like we sat there taking up space, buying nothing. We all continuously ordered food and drink throughout the night. The staff didnt seem happy to serve us, instead it seemed as if they couldn't have cared less about serving us. The food was ok. Just ok. The fish or the tartar sauce was a bit too salty for my taste. My friends and i only stayed so long that night because we really enjoyed the music being played by the live bands, it was the only reason we also decided to pop in. The music was great, it was nice to see quite a few rock songs being played. Makes a difference from all the background noise pubs usually hire. However with the attitude of the staff and the way they seemed to address the bands that played, again it seemed as if they didnt want them there even though the people in the pub, myself and my friends included, really enjoyed the music. All in all, I just hope they actually pay the bands they have play for them. I've heard some things that could suggest otherwise. Overall there are much nicer, friendly pubs in bromley. I dont think i'd return here.
