I can only give absolute praise for this establishment. The management were very obliging and couldn't do enough for you and the food was really good too. The rooms we stayed in were first class.  The bathrooms were clean and well presented.  No complaints at all.  I'd recommend this pub/hotel to anyone.

First off, the good. Interior is lovely, good parking available and the toilets were spotless. Drink prices are reasonable for the region, and the selection of beers is decent.

Food and service is where this venue falls flat on its face. We ordered scampi and chips, nachos with toppings and a cheese and onion ciabatta.

The nachos "toppings" consisted of partially melted cheese and nothing else (about £5). No guac, no salsa, no nothing.

The scampi were... okay. Not bad, not good, just ok. Almost crispy on the outside, sadly mushy internally. The chips served with the scampi were underdone, and the tartare was not to our taste. The slice of lemon was ok though. (£12 approx).

The cheese and onion ciabatta had the same pre grated cheese that had failed to melt on the nachos, untoasted. Fair enough, it didn't say toasted on the menu, but really? It came with a salad comprising of 2 tomatoes unwashed with stalks, and a few limp leaves of generic greenery. (6 quid).

Staff were polite if not exactly welcoming. Fair enough, I'd be grumpy if I had to have lunch there every day.

Overall, I'd give this place a miss. The main recommendation I can give is that it was open on a Tuesday, unlike several places in the area.

A brilliant find. Food outstanding, both evening meal and breakfast. Room lovely and clean, cosy, warm and very comfortable.  Staff extremely friendly and warm. I highly recommend the Bickford Arms and would love to go back one day.
