Stayed two nights, room was NOT serviced next day so dirty cups and no coffee or tea second night. Springs coming through in mattress and pillows were dreadful. Real shame, could be nice. Just a little TLC. Needed. Maybe a mirror that's not in bathroom, so that you could use straightener/ hairdryer. If you wanted a quiet drink you'd need to go to your room, music so loud and I love music but everyone was shouting to have a conversation.
As always a fantastic carvery at the Belfry Hotel. 100% the best carvery in the Forest of Dean if not Gloucestershire! Only room for improvement is the queuing system. It takes a bit of time to move along but doesn’t take anything away from the food! Fantastic!
Great pub, usually a good atmosphere. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Food is great and the beer isn't bad either . Highly recommend.
Nice enough, service was good and staff friendly. Could of done with a little background music in the dining area in my opinion but over all a nice pubService: 5/5
Stayed for 2 nights for a family party which was held there. We had doubles and a family room. Rooms were a good size and clean. The buffet was good, breakfast was very good, meat i would imagine locally sourced. Also eat in the bar again no complaints. No complaints regarding staff, everyone was pleasant and Shane the manager? was particularly outstanding, proficient and kind. Thought it was very good value for money. Would definitely stay again.
My friends and I stayed for 2 nights here recently. As a whole the experience was great, golf courses are lovely and well worth a visit. There are however a few negatives that disappointed the group: - The food in Sam's bar really isn't great, club sandwich probably gets a 3/10, the ham and cheese toastie is swimming in cheese and is extremely sickly - its not hard to make a decent sandwich so the chef needs to go back to the drawing board. - The price of the food is also badly reflected in the quality. - Part of the reason we booked the resort was to be able to use the spa, unfortunately the spa is non existent as it is being re done, just a heads up for anyone looking to visit over summer. - In the main reception there is a pond out the back which left a bad smell in the lobby. This also filtered through to the bar in the lobby which wasn't ideal. - The rooms are split by blocks and unfortunately we ended up in a block with a hen do, appreciate everyone wants to have fun but it'd be great if the resort could separate the hen do from quiet golf parties looking to get some rest before a big round. - Beer selection is okay but bud light and corona on tap have got to go. Some other positives to note, rooms are lovely, towels are lovely and fluffy and the power from the shower is terrific. Staff also very friendly and not much waiting around to be done, always a plus. Overall would visit again but some work to be done to make this resort the real deal.
Stopped off for a Sunday roast. Had a delicious carvery, from friendly and helpful staff. The meal was very reasonably priced, the potatoes were very flavoursome and the quantity of meat served was generous. Honest food, good value.
One issue is lack/poor WiFi, but a superb venue good value, could be improved with more music in my opinion Rooms: 4/5
Decided to try here after a few years living in the Forest. It was meal to celebrate my dad's birthday & my parents anniversary. I booked the previous day by a lovely lady and was greeted by lots of friendly staff this afternoon. Our table wasn't quite ready and was told we could have a seat in the bar area. Before we'd finished ordering our drinks, the lady came round and told us our table was ready. The food at the carvery was impressive. Nice choice of meats and vegetables. We filled our plates, but struggled to finish it all. It was a really enjoyable meal. Best one for a long time. We were really impressed with the friendly, warm welcome we received from the staff and the service. Will definitely be back. Thank you all
