This is a lovely pub to visit. Cosy and warm and quite quiet both times we visited. You order on the app and drinks get brought to your table. We ate lunch in there once and the chicken burger and chips was really good although they had no coleslaw and laughed when i asked for a reduction in price
Terrible experience! Ordered the steak and it tastes foul along with the mushrooms.. all tasted like sweaty socks. Had one bite and left the rest. The chips looked and tasted like they had been in the frier for about a minute. The staff seemed nice but when my plate was taken and there was everything left on it they didn't even question if the food was ok and what was up with it, maybe they are use to people leaving whole plates of food ?! Will definitely not return here! Possibly the worst food I have ever tried or seen .. wetherspoons gives this place a run for its money and the prices there are almost a 1/3 of what you pay here plus the food is actually edible in a wetherspoons. I'm guessing as the place is called the beachcomber that's where they source the food from off the beach maybe ?? Once again absolutely disgusting food and the place was dirtier than a public toilet .. definitely would consider hiring a chef that can cook and also a cleaner !
Good selection of drinks. No staff asked if the food was OK and burgers were dry and severely overcooked.
Our first restaurant as we started our short break. The food is good, but a big pity on the cleanliness of the place. The place really needs a deep clean. The carpets were so dirty and stained. Apart from that the tables and the food made up for the downfall. That is why I rated it 4 stars.
Signs up for offers outside that don't exist inside. Badly run with huge queues. Clearly trying to bring people in with pretend prices. Avoid completely
With restrictions in place its not too busy unless you stick to your 5pm dinner routine. Breakfast is OK but the steak is rubbish. Sorry. All in all good service.
Good breakfast, fast service reasonable prices, spotlessly clean. Consistently good. Recommended.
Salmon was horribly overcooked, vegetables were hard. Cheesecake lacked flavour and didn't come with strawberries as advertised. When queried, we were given a half hearted apology about having run out of strawberries. You also have to order at the bar as opposed to having your order taken at the table. The whole evening was lack lustre and really detracts from the "Butlins Experience". Truly disappointing. EDIT:-I just read through a few of the other recent reviews and would also echo the fact that no one bothered to clear our dishes and left them to pile up for our party of 7. When dessert came, there was no space to place the plates, at which point the waitress ASKED "Should I take away some plates?"... : If anyone at Butlins reads this, please, this is a very poor look for you. Changes desperately need to be made.
Only serving staff deserve some praise here as they offer friendly service but you need new chefs that can tell time .. you don't serve adults meals without the childs coming with it. Food was overcooked, and rubbery where it was sitting under hotlamps while waiting for the whole meal to be finished. Cannot recommend.
