Called in for a late lunch as it appeared to be the only place open and serving food in town. The cafe area was an eclectic mix of styles, in the middle of which was an office.nnFood and presentation was OK, but pretty basic. Table hadn't been cleaned from previous visitors.nnThey understood customer's finances were tight ensuring the coffee was dual purpose and could be used as paint stripper if you couldn't force yourself to finish it.
If brown furniture, peeling paint and squeaky floorboards are your cup of tea then this could be the place for you. The hotel was covered in scaffolding when we stayed and there was evidence in places of water damage from a leaking roof. The electric air fresheners in the corridors helped but there was the hint of a noxious odour at times. The location is central to Bourne and parking and street noise can be a challenge. In fairness our room was clean and comfortable if over warm and the en suite bathroom was satisfactory. Breakfast was good value and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is not manned from late afternoon onwards with guests given a key so that they can come and go.
Bedrooms are a little dated but very well equipped, comfortable and clean, staff are very helpful, breakfast is really nice, and breakfast really nice, great produce cooked to perfection, great table service,

Comfortable, but the parking is a bit of a hike across uneven surfaces and cobbles.nAnd the shower was not great, only a waterfall shower which looks amazing, but in practice, makes it tricky to keep your hair dry if you're wanting to freshen up without a hair wash.
