Beautiful location overlooking river. On a hot day stopped walk and sat at a garden table snacked on bowls of whitebait starters and drinks. Then carried on walking along river. Loads of people enjoying their meals. Inside pub and toilet facilities very clean.

Really lovely bar. I'm used to it being more pubs round this area so it's really brilliant to have somewhere more sophisticated.  Beautiful outside seating right over the river .

Been to the Anchor twice recently, both times were disappointing. The food is massively over priced for what it is. Steak tasted of nothing. Mash was cold, nothing was seasoned. 
Garden menu is also over priced, sausages tasted awful. Scampi over cooked, as was the cod! Basically average pub food, not what you expect from a restaurant who claim to have Michelin star. When we asked the waitress about this she said "oh that was the head chef that has left now." Save your money, and go somewhere else!

Really nice setting! The staff were so attentive and very polite. The food is well presented and very tasty. At first the portion size looks small however after sharing a starter (Antipasto platter), then having a main course (Belly of pork roast) and a Banoffi sundae I was stuffed. Would definitely recommend The Anchor.

We visited this pub on the way back from a day at Battlesbridge. Very nice staff, food looked good & tempting. The pub itself looked amazing especially the eating area looking over the water. Will defiently come back. They also had a lovely friendly cat that was outside where all the tables & benches where just waiting for better whether.
