Lovely filling food and friendly service in an excellent location. Great place to bring friends and family for food and drink. They have a lovely conservatory type area for eating with a view or outside seating and even some pods closer to the water. Can't fault it, see you next time.
Excellent place to visit. Good menu choices. Food was superb. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Lots of nice seating areas and plenty of outdoor space. Would recommend this place to anyone.
Great food in a lovely setting. A modern, classy gastro-pub on the banks of the river Crouch with its own take on modern dining. Update for 2022 - Now with outside "Pods" with great views of the river. Various other outside and inside seating options, a well stocked bar and friendly staff. Brilliant service and excellent food.
Nice pub restaurant on the river Crouch went lunchtime midweek, wasn't crowded food was lovely, nice to see lots of choice for vegetarian as well as meat eaters, had the chickpea pasta with crab and prawn would recommend. All the staff were friendly and courteous. Hope to revisit again soon.
Friendly pub in a lovely location. Delicious food with a varied menu. Have visited several times with my Mum having lunch in the Oak pods. A special thankyou to Louise who always looks after us and makes us feel very welcome.
We had Sunday lunch last week for 4. The waitresses were extremely accommodating, helpful and professional, so no problem there. My husband and I had the mussels and during the night we were both extremely ill with food poisoning and took a couple of days to recover. We’ve eaten mussels countless times before with no ill effects. We did leave a review to this effect with a website associated with the Anchor but have heard nothing from the pub. We will certainly not be returning.
Setting is lovely and so is the Pub. Food was ok although presentation could be worked on. £5 for a portion of French fries tiny metal bucket a bit steep. The garden is massive and they have garden pods that look really amazing.Food: 3/5
Booked here for Mother's Day and we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was delicious and the service was excellent, very friendly and attentive. The view of the river is great, definitely one to go in the summer to sit outside.Food: 5/5
Went here for a Christmas meal, booked the lovely pods outside only to be told 4 hours before our booking that the pathway to the pods was being re done and wont be finished before our booking. Was very disappointed by this as I would have liked a heads up more than 4 hours in advance. We especially went there to sit in the pod so was very upset that we couldn't even book somewhere else or for another time as they were fully booked on other days. Not very professional in my opinion. The food was lovely but we were sat on a very small table in the corner which was difficult to get in and out of. Would have liked an apology and an explanation as to why they didn't let us know in advance. Me and my friends were exchanging Christmas gifts too and were looking forward to having our own pod.
Really great location for a dinner date! The place is always beautifully decorated especially around Christmas time. The food is excellent quality and really delicious as are the cocktails and the staff are always friendly.Food: 5/5
