Lovely pub, great service, friendly staff and good value. I tried out their new spring menu for main courses have a Super Greens Salad with Chicken and Desserts with Caramel Banana Waffle. Also because of new food law labels of calories and good idea show high or low calories on menu.
Paid our first visit this weekend after a nice morning walk in Hockley Woods. A cosy, inviting pub where we had a lovely lunch with great service and reasonable prices. We're definitely going to make this a Sunday lunchtime routine.
I have been here a few times now and the food never disappoints. Staff are always engaging, and all requests are dealt with promptly. This pub is directly next to Hockley woods, so this is perfect place to end up after a long walk.
A lot more than your local pub! Honestly come down for the live music tonight fantastic time recently refurbished looking lovely. Food is amazing better than your average pub grub! Would recommend the branch and the pub garden backs onto the woods, which is sun you can spend all day here and night
Not a bad pub located right beside the woods with a large garden for the summer, nice food here can’t really fault the place. Only eaten the once the fillet steak I ordered but they give me a sirloin and asked for peppercorn sauce and got some other sauce they said she thinks was a beef dripping sauce. I had already poured it over my steak thinking it was a strange coloured peppercorn considering the price in comparison with other local food the bull is a lot more expensive that found me looking for the rest of my onion rings ‍ The wife enjoyed the burger although the bun was toasted rock hard
Excellent surroundings, very much like a traditional pub, tasty food & friendly service, very enjoyable place. I would recommend booking as it was quite busy.
Just recently moved to the area and decided to take the family for a late lunch here. We arrived a little early for our booking and enjoyed a drink in the beer garden before being seated. The staff were great and this place has an all-round good vibe, very family friendly, although the food was a bit hit and miss. The starters ordered came quite quickly and were well received, the sharing platter was good and I would order that again, the boys enjoyed theirs also salt & pepper squid and Chicken strips. The steaks ordered for mains were not all that to be honest, but my youngest did really enjoy his burger. I ordered the Sea Bass with risotto, the risotto had clearly come from a packet as it still held that shape on the plate and I believe had been microwaved, the whole dish was also quite bland and would of benefited greatly from some seasoning whilst cooking. I would recommend The Bull if you are in the area, as I will definitely go back myself, along with the family. You cannot fault the staff who were fantastic but also very busy on the day we visited, and I'm sure they would of rather been sitting in the sun with a cold drink in hand themselves.
Visited on late Saturday afternoon and had a lovely meal here....much better experience than last year when the lunch menu wasn't so great..we ordered from the main menu,2 starters from the chefs special,which were both nice and one special from mains and the pie which was delicious..would recommend and will return.Thank you
The Bull is a firm favourite of ours. We frequent the bull at least once a week... Food is decent, although some items are a bit average. Service could be better to be blatantly honest. However setting makes up for the average service.
Lovely pub with fantastic food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I would like to bring my son and daughter in law next time.
