We passed the thatched tavern by chance and it was honestly one of the nicest places I’ve eaten in a long time. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was perfect and the food was to die for! I had fish and chips and it was so beautifully cooked and fresh! The warm chocolate brownie for dessert was worth breaking the diet for. Highly recommend and will be returning. Well done team.
This is a great little pub and restaurant. Went for Sunday lunch. Food was good. 3 roast dinners beef were excellent. My pork ribs were a tad dry, though tasty. I could have done with a finger bowl to rinse my hands afterwards too, but, minor points which did not detract from a lovely lunch. Great range of non alcoholic beers and one NA cider. Service was good.
This is the second time we have been here within 10 days. First time we met some friends who were staying at Brixham, it would be a good meeting point. We walked in and was impressed by the decor and all the lovely Christmas decorations that made you feel festive. We had an amazing dinner and our guess from Gloucestershire loved it. The food was excellent and the portions were very generous. The only downside for our Thursday evening, after sitting for an hour or so eating our food, we decided to sit in the snug just to finish off our drinks and catch up with our friends. It was only 9.30 but was told they were closing and would like us to finish up and leave. It was three weeks before Christmas, and so if they just gave us another half an hour, it would have made it a perfect evening. That was the only disappointing thing I can say about this pub. We were so impressed we decided to take two other friends for a Sunday roast. My goodness it was NOT a disappointment. We are vegetarians and was so impressed with quality of the food, at such a reasonable price compared to other restaurants in the area. Whoever the owners are, keep it going and we will keep coming, just can you let us stay longer than 9.30. Vegetarian options: It's so nice they have different things on the Menu.
Was lucky to stumble upon this pub after walking from Shaldon last summer - thank you to to Scottish man who was rebuilding the steps on part of the route for recommending the pub to us! The lunch all vegetarian options was lovely and well priced and the garden was lovely to sit in. The service was prompt and the staff were all very polite. Inside the bar and toilets were very clean. A really nice pub. Vegetarian options: Very nice beetroot and feta salad and a lush ploughmans.
This is a lovely looking pub with a great dining room. Allow plenty of time to get there. Parking is limited but there is a Pay&Display carpark nearby that didn't appear to work. The food was a tad expensive for lunch and the service was not exactly slow but considering the amount of people there it wasn't speedily efficient either. We chose the lighter bites and the chicken Cesar salad was perfectly pleasant without wowing you. We didn't have a pudding but chose coffee, the staff then proceeded to rearrange the furniture causing enough noise to drown out our conversation. The total bill came to nearly £60 for two glasses of wine, two coffee, some olives and two Cesar salads. This was good pub food but not fine dining.
Enjoyed the food here, even though I think my belly pork could have been cooked a little longer. Staff were very friendly and I would return. Must add that they have a very good vegan selection, which pleased my daughter / son-in-law.
Just popped in to TheThatched Tavern as out of Towner's from Surrey on an Easter break staying close by..In need of a properly cooked Sunday dinner in a nice quality environment that welcomed our elderly well trained internationally travelled old hound. Well this place delivered on all points ...superb food ....good choice of wines and beers ....all staff excellent new everydish on the menu and served with aplomb . Do order the cauliflower cheese as a side dish it's absolutely delicious . Dinner for two with glass of wine and 2 beers £47....worth every penny. We will return we highly recommend . Hazel Porter.
One the best roast dinners we've ever had! The food was delicious and the staff very polite and friendly. We will definitely return.Food: 5/5
Great location for a dog walk Had wondered why I could never book a table to eat in the summer Food excellent, Service excellent and very friendly and locally sourced food
A lovely old Inn which has been tastefully renovated. We enjoyed a very nice dinner here. There was plenty to choose from and the sea trout was excellent as was the dessert. Portions were good, but I could have eaten a three course meal. The service was good for a pub. Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options were vegan I am not a fan of vegan cheese. Parking: The car park is pay and display, but they refund it to a limit. Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian options and allergens were clearly marked.
