Great Service, Tasty food in a cosy atmosphere. Saul served us all evening and was friendly and happy throughout. Seemed to enjoy his job. The twist on a Hunter Chicken was a delight and I absolutely adored the Black Forest Flower Pot for dessert. I would thoroughly recommend it. We were seated at a table near the back door where people went out to smoke. It did not bother us in the slightest, but there was a fresh breeze each time it opened only 3 times all night, but if you are a person that feels the cold I would suggest requesting a seat away from it when you book. They say they will do their best to accommodate but can't guarantee. For us personally though, we couldn't fault the evening.
We got the veggie burgers, starters/sides which were all good I loved the cheesy mushrooms, puddings were all good didn't really like the Eton mess. The staff were all nice and friendly, nice atmosphere, would recommend.
The ease of booking, how we were greeted and the service the whole time we were there was fantastic. The food was spectacular and served with a nice space between each course and the menu choices were wide ranging. The drinks on offer were varied and delicious. The ambience of the restaurant is lovely and it was clean and nicely decorated. I have to say even the cutlery and wine glasses were spotless which is a big plus for me. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, in fact, I’ve already told people to go!!
We visited the restaurant on Xmas Eve, great atmosphere. Our waitress all evening was Jo, she was really helpful when it came to knowing the menu, my husband had the lamb, which he loved, I had the sea bass and was looking forward to the flower pot afters, Jo even checked to make sure there were still some left. We didn’t just get left, but we were asked were our courses ok and whether we wanted any more drinks. A great time was had by all. Thank you
We were a large party of 9. Everyone was very pleased with the quality and taste of their food. Service was good and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Only criticism would be the temperature if the lattes and cappuccinos - just lukewarm. However this did not spoil our enjoyment.
1. the outside area had not been cleared of snow - I had my 90 yr old mother with me - it was treacherous under foot. 2. The whole place was freezing cold and apologies given but not acceptable. We were able to be moved to a table next to a radiator after threatening to leave - explanation give that the windows were inadequate and they could not keep the room warm 3. Soup arrived cold - sent back - explanation give that the kitchen had problems keeping food warm 4. Main course - most of food was cold. My meal was reduced from what I would normally receive - only 2 scallops and 4 small prawns - usually 3 & 5/6. 5. The sides - hallumi fries were inedible as well overcooked & onion rings again cold. Refund of these two items was given after complaining. 6. Ladies toilets not working - had to queue to use disabled toilet. As a result toilet was not particularly clean We were not the only people complaining about the coldness of the room and the food. This was supposed to be a lovely meal with my mother before Xmas as a special treat. This was always our local place to eat. This is now the 3rd time having a bad experience. WE WILL NOT BE BACK.
Sunday roast was good but meat portion relatively insubstantial for adults though kids portions were good. Very surprised to see only one functioning toilet with wash facilities was the accessible toilet, wholly inadequate for such a large restaurant - and cistern was not working properly, meaning a long wait before could be flushed. Ladies out of order and mens' had signage suggesting they could use sanitizer instead of wash basin. Accessible toilet is meant for those with additional physical needs so should not be used in this way. Management really need to get their act together on the toilets and dysfunctional cistern, which appears to have been like this for at least two weeks judging from another review on here.
Regarded as our local pub with its wonderful food and relaxed atmoshphere. Myself and my sister were looked after by Sonia, a warm and friendly waitress who also ensured the open fire was topped regularly along with our wine! Infact, it was such a lovely afternoon, we were there for 8 1/2 hours!! Thanks again to Sonia for looking after us, a lovely lady!
Family Sunday lunch and totally recommend the roast dinner. The gravy is to die for. Our first visit and won’t be the last. Abby our waitress could not if served us any better , really great service from her.
Pub is grubby looking , walls have gravy splashed up them. Staff on the day of Xmas wasn’t very cheerful or had much personality. One of the girls that served us our drinks at our table had filthy finger nails which I think is disgusting if you’re serving food and drink. Paid over £200 for three Xmas dinners - totally overpriced for what looked and tasted like a supermarket already made frozen roast dinner that you put in the microwave. Potatoes were the worst thing on the plate even the waitress agreed. Those dinners were more like £10 per head than the £70 per head that we paid. Overall shockingly disappointing & waste of money & will never go back. Starter was ok but they over toasted the ciabatta style bread which ended up and crispy and crunchy like croutons. The manager on the day Zoe was very helpful and offered me a partial refund which I accepted. This was the first year we decided to eat out for a change for Xmas day and save all the hassle of cooking and tidying up but I really wish we hadn’t of bothered and had stayed at home and cooked a proper Xmas dinner and took time and care in the cooking of it because there was no care or thought at all in this awful meal. I never even ate my meal bcos I simply could not , it was that bad ! Ruined Xmas day for us this did. Never again ! Would defo NOT recommend the Thatched house for food - especially not Xmas dinner . Needs so much improvement
