It was packed as expected, for a Saturday night. We wanted to grab quality dinner and have some drinks too. The staff were very helpful and kind, prepared a table for us right away. We had a lovely evening, delicious food and great selection of drinks. Dishes are a bit more expensive as compared to The Windmill at horn church. However, it is a better pub. For a lovely evening, I would recommend The Jobbers Rest @ approx £20-30 per person for food and drink.
I have been meaning to visit here for ages, and I’m glad I finally did. Food is top quality. The venue clean and very tidy. Staff also excellent and very polite. Service also quick. I went for the cheese soufflés and it was superb. I followed that with the lamb roulade. Again top quality and very nice indeed. I have eaten far lower quality food at a higher cost many times. My meal with a Diet Coke including tip came to £32.00 . Very reasonable. Having eaten almost weekly in Upminster for years I’m kind of annoyed at myself for missing out for so long ! And I won’t make the same mistake again. What with so many nice options on the menu. Excellent 10 out of 10 !!
Came here with my family and had such a great experience. The menu is amazingly well written, the food is prepared and presented beautifully and most importantly - it tastes great. Portions are perfect and allow room for full 3 courses too! The soufflé is amazing both as a starter and as a main. The best part of the whole meal was the lovely Leah hope I spelt that right. The service was attentive and lovely and I would come back just for Leah. Thank you for being the cherry on the cake of a great evening.
The bar is very spacious. Really lovely decor. Especially the beer garden which has lots of open space. Nothing feels to crowded. The staff are very friendly and the food is very decent. A must visit if you are in the area.
Our first time at the Jobbers Rest. I booked a 3 course meal + wine courtesy of a freebie virgin experience and from the moment me & OH arrived, we were made welcome. Ordered cheese soufflé with sauce & beetroot terrine to start, confit duck dauphinois potatoes French beans & carrots & trout with brown shrimp potato rösti, then sticky toffee pudding ice cream & pistachio soufflé & ice cream. Even the house red was very good. Cappuccino’s were good too. All courses were beautifully prepared & cooked, especially the pistachio soufflé. The service was as good as in a top class restaurant, attentive but friendly. A special shout out to Lee, our waiter, what an excellent job he’s doing, paying close attention to everything. We’re looking forward to returning very soon. Would really recommend.
Dog friendly pub, the staff were friendly to non dogs too. Basic selection of beers and a limited menu cooked decently. The 2 and 3 course meals are worth the money. The place was packed on a Sunday, so book in advance. Kid-friendliness: Lots of ground for kids and dogs to run around and large wooden blocks to keep them entertained. Parking: Has parking for about 30 cars, I think
Great service and atmosphere, however, the food was disappointing. We got the chicken roast from the Sunday menu for dinner. The carrots were raw, the chicken was dry and the Yorkshire pudding was tough. Would consider going again as the venue was lovely but would avoid the roast.
Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. And the food was really good. Was happily surprised with the menu, lots of tasty French dishes. I chose the escargots and the duck cassoulet and it was as good as in France. Only criticism the dessert menu let them down.
Great meal and not crazy expensive. Special thanks to Amanda for being a wonderful host. Had a great time and will be back.
Lovely pub with a cosy warm feel even though it is a reasonably large space. Indoor and outdoor seating; internal fireplaces look like they would be nice in winter. Outdoor seating have heaters and blankets to keep you cosy. Good menu variety including vegetarian, vegan and kids options. We loved the soufflé ! We visited on a Wednesday afternoon and it was quite busy - I would recommend booking ahead.
