My third visit to ThaiKun and this is what I always order. I forgot the name of the dish but the chicken is marinated in garlic and pepper sauce and it's amazing!
Ordered the fried chicken and rice, which was cold.. the chicken was hard and very chewy they didn't come to my table, so we had to stand up various times to find a waiter... drinks came 25 minutes late.. Not worth the £60 at all for 4 people. Would Not Come Here Again.. I recommend Zaps for traditional Thai food.
Delicious. Good portions. Amazing curry and soup. Healthy kids meal.
Might be good if we ever got our food. Went here for a friends birthday, orders were taken quickly, drinks came out fine. As a group of friends we are chatting 30min later no starts, so we call the waitress she apologies and 15min later starters come. We have finished our starts and 45min later still no sign of our main so we've been there for 2hours, call a waitress asking about our mains she goes to check but doesn't come back, call someone else to only find out the Kitchen haven't started to cook our food. The restaurant was busy when we came in but was looking very empty by this point, so we paid for a our drinks and went to KFC. The manager did apologise but it was too late, I think we had come in a smaller group I think we would have walked out a lot earlier
Absolutely atrocious service. They were so slow making us wait for 40 minutes and then coming to say that they will now start to make our food and that one of the dishes we ordered is unavailable. This is one of my favorite Thai places in Nottingham, so it really upsets me to say that my last two times eating at Thaikhun have been met with very slow and unattentative service. ‘The restaurant is full’ is NOT an adequate excuse to make anyone wait 40 minutes for their food. The kitchen looked drastically understaffed with only three people in there as well. Not happy at all and will think twice about ever going or recommending thaikhun again.
Seafood allergies: I asked the waitress, who was very helpful, about any seafood content of the dishes that wasn't itemised on the menu. I was told that ALL the curries contain prawn paste, but that there were two dishes on the menu that would be safe to eat. It's quite possible that there are a few more, but those were all that were listed by the chef. I was somewhat disappointed. However the food was well cooked, the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant aesthetics take a little getting used to, but make sense.
I've been there for three times now. The food was always good and hot and no major delays. The restaurant's atmosphere is also nice! Let's move on to the bad stuff. So I went there recently and went to the men's toilet only to find a frying pan or wok in the toilet's sink which was also rusty. Walking outside the men's toilet I also found a trolley filled with several pans pots, etc. So yeah I don't think I'll go there again. :/
Very bad service waited 45 mins for starters which arrived cold but edible then another 40 mins for mains ordered the grilled chicken luckily I checked before eating totally cold chicken inside would have give me food poisoning. Told the waiter ended up paying for starters and left hungry. I have never left a review before but felt it necessary after this experience. I can understand waiting for food if they are busy or short staffed but for it to arrive cold and inedible totally unacceptable should be reported to trading standards.
My visit to Thaikhun was extremely disappointing. From the beginning, no one was there to seat me. Service was extremely slow and I didn't receive the drink I ordered until I reminded the waitress. Food portions were smaller than expected, and whilst food was good it was not hot. Overall, it was a mediocre experience and not as good as the one I had in Thaikhun Oxford. If in Nottingham and wanting Thai food, I recommend Zaap Thai over Thaikhun.
Unfortunately I found myself in the terrible position that in order to leave a review, a star has to be given. An undeserved star to say the least. Firstly it took 15 minutes to be actually acknowledged for our drinks order. I use the term acknowledge loosely in reality it means waving someone over The service was a shambles, lack of staff and lack of attention to detail. Such as; some of our starters arriving before any of our drinks. We had to repeatedly ask for a time frame for ours drinks and the rest of our appetisers. The staff had not cleared any of our dishes away and seemed very disinterested by the us. By the time our mains came we actually had no cutlery, having to leave our tables yet again to be served. Funnily enough the restaurant was fairly quiet. I am actually writing this review sat at our table, yet again waiting for our plates to be cleared and any recognisition.
