I was publicly accused of stealing cat food at the self-checkout despite the fact that I had already scanned and paid for both boxes that were in my basket.nnThe staff member incorrectly assumed I hadn’t scanned one of the items and added a third box onto the till, even after I clearly explained that I had scanned two boxes and only had two in my basket. Instead of checking properly, she raised her voice and said I “should’ve just scanned my items next time,” speaking to me in an extremely disrespectful and humiliating manner in front of other customers.nnI had to repeatedly explain that everything in my basket had been scanned and paid for before she finally removed the extra item she had wrongly added. Even then, there was no apology or acknowledgement that she had falsely accused me in front of everyone. She continued shouting and insisting I hadn’t scanned the items, despite it already being obvious that I had done nothing wrong.nnI left the store feeling completely humiliated.nnUnfortunately, this is far from the first negative experience I’ve had with this Tesco. On another occasion, I was refused paracetamol despite providing valid ID and clearly being over the required age. I’ve also previously had an issue involving a Tesco delivery driver kicking a dog and then lying about it afterwards. When we contacted the branch about the incident, the response was completely unhelpful and we weren’t even allowed to refuse the delivery.nnThere have been countless occasions where staff have treated customers poorly and shown a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. Because of the repeated bad experiences and consistently poor standards, I no longer shop here and will not return unless serious improvements are made to customer service and staff behaviour.
as someone who works in retail: really, REALLY poor customer service.nmy boyfriend and i came into the store tonight to buy ourselves dinner, some snacks and a few small cans of alcohol. when we approached the self checkout, a security guard and all the surrounding staff members were staring at us- I thought nothing of it, since we’re 18 and 19 and I just figured they were probably cautious of our age. anyway, we get to the self checkout, before we finish scanning things a member of staff approaches us. she silently stood between us and didn’t say anything so I assumed she was waiting to see our IDs, so we both got them out- as im trying to get my driver’s license out shes pointing at things I haven’t scanned yet- as if reminding me to scan them? i guess? this already felt uncomfortable, until she looked at both of our IDs and very confidently and accusingly said ‘I know that you’re both old enough, but I think you’ve been drinking already, haven’t you?’nthis shocked me, since we were literally completely stone cold sober, so I simply said no- when she pressed on, I explained that I drove to the store, to which she told me the staff thought I was ‘walking a bit-‘ and then, instead of using an adjective, proceeded to exaggeratedly mock the way I walk I walk with a slight limp and have forever been picked on for it so it’s a very sensitive thing for me haha, I was also holding onto my boyfriends arm and leaning on himni explained to her that i have a slight limp, and in fairness to her she did albeit briefly apologise, and then was overly friendly as she scanned our things through although it did still feel like she thought we were stealing and that’s why she was ‘helping’nthe final thing she said to us was ‘thanks ladies’ which also just felt uncomfortable since my boyfriend is very much not a lady, and it came across as very condescending anywaynit was just a very disappointing and actually upsetting experience. we both felt very confused and embarrassed. again, I work in retail, i understand sometimes you can suspect certain things and not be correct- but as members of staff you have to at least make an effort to be subtle. idk.
Shame on tesco. The people need to boycott these supermarkets, start by slowly finding alternatives.nnChicken shawarma used to be £5.50 the other month now £9.50.nnThat's just 1 thing amongst manynnOlive oil used to be £3.50 - 4.50 now £10 plus.nnColgate £3.50 - now 7 quidnnCoffee ..... I could go on and on.nnClubcard? Sure now they know where you live, what you buy, your budget, how often your there, who your family are. Just for a couple of quid off a big shop.nnSince covid they shot prices up by 100 - 150%. There is no justification. Whatever it is there certainly not for the people.nnDownload yuka scan what there selling us. . . . Now accumulate all that nasty stuff from the food and products in a day, week, month, year.nnBig effects on health.nnPower to the people.
I recently went with a friend to buy some beer. The lady told me she wouldn’t sell it to me because I was talking with my friend about alcohol while standing in the queue. This is absurd. I went to another shop instead. I want to add that I was sober. Tesco will collapse in a few years because they are asking for it themselves. People simply stop shopping there because of the terrible customer service.
Opens till 12 am in most of days except saturdays. EV charging pods available. While lot parking spaces. Better if shops with a tesco club card. Thanks ‘J’ for helping me find my product.nPlease note the clothes shooping area on firest floor closes before 12am
