Using their delivery services they don’t show up during the allotted time. It wouldn’t be so bad if they actually called ahead to ask if they could come early but they don’t. Sometimes they cancel orders the day of, especially if it’s a match day. Yesterday they never showed for the delivery, never called to say why but their website kept saying I was next on their way from 8:18pm-8:48pm for the 8pm-9pm slot I booked; by 9:30pm I called when they hadn’t showed, the call centre called the manager who claimed the truck broke down but my groceries had been moved to another truck and were definitely on the way. Another hour passed so I call again. The call centre said if they aren’t there they aren’t coming because it’s almost 11pm. They wasted 3 hours of my life and never showed. All groceries stores are closed at 11pm making it impossible to even go elsewhere to get the things I need to make my now very late dinner or get breakfast supplies. Today, their website claims yesterday’s order was successfully delivered and the money was still charged to my card. I called the call centre who’s options don’t match what I need to ask and the person I spoke to is still asking me if I want it redelivered after all that, she then refunded after I refused to waste anymore time waiting on people who don’t respect my time. Then offered a £10 voucher because apparently that is all their customers’ time is worth while Tesco makes approximately 3 billion in profit this year but can’t manage a simple phone call to a customer to apologize or correct the issue. If they had been honest that they just weren’t coming from the beginning at least I could have made alternative arrangements.
Used many times as its location is convenient but have to say, it’s more expensive than usual and it’s the only Tesco I know where they quite literally seem to have to click a button to allow staff to enter and leave the shop. It’s very odd, sometimes unnecessarily waiting to leave having paid or waiting outside to get in. It didn’t used to be like that and suddenly they started doing it. Majority of checkouts are self service, but if you buy anything needing Id or the machine throws an issue often, it can take ages for staff to help you. Also the layout is weird, milk on the back wall but cream hidden at the front next to the meal deals.
I ordered avocado toast and matcha. Very disappointed Tesco cafe. The avocado toast came with only one slice, even though the screen shows two. I always get two slices before. I paid £4.50, not worth it. The staff tried to tell me it always comes with one, but that’s not true. For the matcha, I paid extra for coconut milk. It arrived watery with hardly any milk. Both items felt incomplete and poor value. I don’t recommend it!
A lot of products available in wide range, never disappointed me. An honourable mention to Phil, great employee, took care of three nitties who tried to nick my motorbike while I was at the gym.
It reminds me of Walmart.nnCafe, bank, optician, pharmacy, mobile, locksmith, grab&go section and massive alcohol area! This shop is just too good to be true.nnMight be an issue for people who do not drive- too much shopping to carry, although it is very close to Gateshead Interchange.
