Where to start. Terrible food. Terrible service. As other reviews say, hospitality is not a strong suit. We decided to give it a go anyways because maybe the food would be better…we were wrong. My wife had Lamb Tikka and I had Chicken Korma. Both were bland and lacking…everything. All I could taste was coconut. We ordered coconut rice as well and it’s literally rice with basically coconut sand sprinkled on. I’ve never personally seen it prepared like that. Also….the salad. In my wife’s words, it looked like baby sick in a bag. Pictured Putting “salad” in a white plastic bag again isn’t something I’ve seen. It looked terrible. Also…if you’re offering take out, one would think they'd offer utensils and napkins but nope. When I asked I got zero help and rudely told they aren’t available. Thanks…guess I’ll eat with my fingers. Last but not least, when I called my order in they didn’t mention they’re cash only. It wasn’t until my food was brought out that I was told this and they were zero help telling me where the closes cash machine was. We read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Portree is very tough to get a short notice dinner booking so we decided to take away. Should have found a different place. I suggest people do the same.
Good Indian food and great taste. I saw the reviews about service, might have been one off day but the place is very decent. Please go and experience.
Do not go to this restaurant!! Extremely rude and disrespectful man taking order. He yelled at us and other customers when they ask about the order. He shouted at me for asking if they take card payment. He continues yelling when I asked politely about how long it might take for the order. His own coworker tried to calm him down and no one apologized. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Request the owner to fire this man or give him responsibilities that don’t require customer interaction. If he was the owner, then this restaurant is an abomination in the name of Indian food and hospitality. Wish I could give 0 stars.
Dreadful Experience! Arrived to be greeted by some very grumpy miserable staff who looked to be ready for home 9.45. We politely asked if they had a table, and was told 'would yes if your quick'. We would have preferred them to say 'Sorry were Closed' rather than the escapade that followed. Order taken quickly, and meals arrived in double quick time. The staff all had their coats on and kept looking at us, and looking at their watches. They walked up and down pacing the carpet around us see photo. The meals were dire....one ok, the other like it came out of the bin, runny and tasteless and like nothing weve seen before. The final straw was when they all got their mobile phones out and went onto TikTok watching videos with the volume up full. Not sure if the Air Conditioning was turned on or heating off aswell as the temperature plummeted! Then the head shaking and glaring over was enough to say....its time to go. First and certainly the last time we will go there. 33 minutes in and out! Parking: None Wheelchair accessibility: None whatsoever.
Recap: Food 3, service 1, so 2 overall. Lots of interesting Indian dishes on the menu, and they tasted ok, but weren't anything special. But it was the service, or lack thereof, that prompted this review. Not only was the service super slow we waited 55 minutes for our main dishes, but it was also not very attentive we had to ask for water 4 times despite the restaurant not being full. A disappointing experience.
It's a little difficult to locate this place but once you get in, you will surely have tasty food. The food was fresh and tasty. Must try Chicken chat
Everything was delicious! The service is a bit slow but no rush. Got a garlic Naan, tandoori chicken, lamb biryani, and some curry dish. All sooo amazing
We came across this place randomly when we were on our Isle of Skye day trip and stopped at Portree for lunch. The people in the restaurant made us feel welcome. The decoration of the restaurant was nice and the food tasted amazing. We had a nice conversation with the owner of the place.
We two families - group of 9 ate at the Taste of India during our 3 day tour of Isle of Man. We had an amazing experience throughout - food was excellent, service was extremely attentive. As British Indians who have experienced many traditional and restaurant Indian meals I have to say we all came away with a delightful, tasty and value for money meal. The memorable experience was made extra special by Rez and Jordan hospitality. Well done team at Taste of India and all the best in the future you made our night. Highly recommend. My rating 5 stars.
A few weeks back I came into this restaurant with a friend. I always look forward to coming here whilst traveling Scotland annually. Unfortunately it was not the same delight as usual. My understanding is it’s under new management? Firstly when we sat down a part of the chandelier had fallen onto my friends head. She took the piece over to reception no apology. We had food which was tasty and we liked very much but that was over shadowed by the rudeness. Then we went to the desk to pay for the bill and a little American lady in her 70s walked in and politely asked for a table for 1 as she was traveling solo. The guy who I can only assume who is the Manager/owner looked her up and down and replied no. You can have a table at 9:30 pm. Two hours time The restaurant was half empty?! He was so rude I was completely shocked. I felt so sorry for her. Secondly, quite rudely asked me to pay by cash I replied no card and he persisted I paid by cash. I’m happy to pay cash usually especially to the previous owners but this guy can pay his taxes like everyone els. Safe to say but sad at the same time I will not be returning to this restaurant. Prince of India it is next time!
