Disappointed with food tooo oily, not upto my Exceptions staff was very friendly… very good customer service they wanted to help But it’s just food & oil…, they gave us Jasmin tea which helped a lot to digest all oil down…. Giving this stars to staff not the food
Such a shame that the quality has gone downhill markedly since the change in ownership in recent years. This used to be our go to Chinese restaurant for 15 years+ and it was always packed and difficult to get a table. However now the standards have dropped sharply, portions have shrunk and prices have skyrocketed more than expected due to covid etc. Starters often come out within a couple of minutes which leads you to question how fresh the food is. Hard to recommend now, one hopes the new ownership can get its act together. Vegetarian options: Extensive vegetarian menu
Unfortunately, I did not enjoyed dining at this restaurant. Food was the same one can find in the cheap Chinese restaurants in Spain and pay 12€ per person. Here one pays 35£. The noodles came with burn taste. So definitely not worth the money. I think 20£ per person, at maximum would be a fair price. Dim Sum not recommended. Pork ribs were good.
Where do I start with this review ‍! I had not been to TOChina for over 10 year and this couples dine out was an opportunity to sample the best of Chinese food in Harrow after a long time! We were greeted well by the host and it has changed owners in the past few years which seemed noticeable straight away, as the owner Hitesh made no effort to meet with us or even say welcome as ye was too busy counting the takings for night. The waitress service was one I would describe as McDonald's type, where they seemed to be fixated on taking your orders asap and then delivering your food within minutes, which we found was not to our liking as we had booked our table at 7.30 pm and the starters had already been delivered by 8.15 and they were asking us for our mains at 8.30pm. The starters were an interesting as they all seemed to be warmed up in a microwave and seemed that they had ordered Costco Chinese food ! One dish was garlic chicken which seemed to be freeze dried and was served with sugar coated around it, absolutely disgusting and tasteless and not one I recommend to diners who diabetic. The chicken satay was not great either as the chicken had been pre-cooked and the meat had become too rubbery by the time it arrived at our table, additionally the peanut sauce was peanut butter which had been taken from a jar with water added to it. The veggie dishes such as the asparagus/ broccoli were far too salty and seemed to have no freshness as they were pre-cooked and lacked any nutrients in the final dish,as salt was the overall taste with too much pre-cooked garlic added to it. The fresh red chilies were only added to make look freshly cooked. The Peking Duck at £41 for a whole duck is total rip-off which lacked any freshness as the duck was far too dry and lacked any moisture. I know I am going on far too long, but the mains were even worse as you will see in the pictures and my advise would be AVOID Taste of China and maybe go to Chinatown for an authentic Chinese food experience for the prices charged by the owner! At £70 per couple I felt it was not a wonderful experience and my heart goes out to the waitress staff who do not look happy when they are working and our lead waitress was very miserable in demeanour throughout the night. The owner was not very friendly in my opinion and he needs to read this review as customers who come to his restaurant should be treated like guests not clients coming to fill his cash til. Overall my experience was a wasted opportunity to enjoy good food with friends and I was cheated out of my Saturday which I will never get back ! AVOID AVOID and eat at your PERIL‍‍
Went to the restaurant after many years. The food is massively over priced for what you get. Quality of food was ok, portion sizes are very small for starters. Service was ok, atmosphere and decor was pretty dull. This used to be the top Chinese restaurant, but its far from being that now unfortunately.Food: 2/5
Was amazing a few years ago. Singapore noodles all clumped together. Fancy chicken was ok, nowhere near as great as it was. Poor service too.
not upto my expectations tofu to oily & asparagus was same taste like tofu singapore noodles was really nice & spicy chicken veg was everage pictures attached staff is good
Where do I start. I’ve been Eating Chinese food across the UK for the past 30 years and this place took me by surprise. In fact it took my breath away. It’s food from the heart severed in quite simply a very professional and sincere way. The ribs fell of the bone. The noodles melted in my mouth. The food was fresh, perfectly marinated and seasoned. I could go on and I will.. If you are in the area get a booking. Get involved. Get with the new boys in town. The big boys. The best boys! The taste of china boys
Food was great atmosphere was good but little things like too much salt in the calamari and duck with a little cold for our liking.. All around okay experience.Food: 4/5
Oh how sad this is. This used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants around and we have been coming here for nearly 20 years. We have been a few times on average once a year to give it a chance as it kept letting us down since the new owners came in but the place has become a shadow of its former self. On this occasion - The male owner spent the whole evening drinking at the bar and then clearly stumbled in to the kitchen and then went back to the bar to drink more. It's embarrassing and unprofessional to have your owner do that and a complete turn off. This was the worst part of the experience - The new management have made the portions smaller, more expensive but worst of all the food is so poor compared to what it used to be. Bland, tasteless, oily. - To be balanced, the waiting staff do their best and many of them have been loyal and good waiters for years If you want better similar style, but far better food in NW London, go to Tai Pan, Royal China or Peking Garden. Or even Noodle City across the road cheap, cheerful and tasty. The new management has ruined this place. It used to be difficult to get a booking on the day with all three of their rooms packed. Now on a weekend, only 2 rooms are used, the entrance room has clearly had tables removed and is no where near full. Shows you all you need to know. We won't be coming back and I can see from the reviews many others feel the same way about many of the above points. People will vote with their feet.
