We had a quick lunch and dinner here on Monday when arrived in Broadstairs! The staffs are very friendly. Food was great overall but the king prawn dish from lunch was not as fresh as we expected. The bar and pool table area downstairs are great! An iconic place to be in Broadstairs as they celebrated their 30th year in service this week.
We booked for dinner here during a weekend break to Broadstairs, what can I say? Absolutely faultless; super friendly and efficient staff, great ambience the restaurant is upstairs from the pub, with lovely views overlooking the harbour and the food was second to none. We both enjoyed the generous! whitebait starter and the seabream main, all perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. We didn't really have room for dessert but in the end we shared a delicious chocolate tart. Top marks to the whole team, highly recommended and booking would be advisable.
We came for the 4 course Sunday dinner. It was great value at £29.50, however we felt there could have been small improvements to really finesse the experience. The veg was boiled and a bit soft and my boyfriend found a hair in his first course the soup the waitress took it back and offered us a new terrine of soup but we were a little put off after that. If I were to visit Broadstairs again, I think we’d dine elsewhere
We arrived for our 3.30pm booking on Sunday, without realising Sundays have a set lunch menu. It turned out to be a good menu and with the most generous helpings. The roast beef was a full monty. I had the main course size of salmon salad. The photo shows a starter size. The service was the most obliging. No wonder it's so popular.
Just had the most amazing Sunday Lunch in this beautiful restaurant. The views were outstanding as was the delicious lunch thank you Chef. But the stars are the magnificent staff they were incredible. Very attentive caring and happy. Service was first class, and accommodated our two year old brilliantly. I highly recommend The Tartar Frigate and I will be going back definitely. It’s not very often you find good food, excellent staff and sea views all in the same place. Well done all Kid-friendliness: Very helpful special attention given and food choices accommodated.
Took my grandmother to lunch here. Wonderful experience. Firstly, the food is excellent. Cooked perfectly, generous portions and presented beautifully. Particularly recommend the Seabass fillet. Secondly, the service was phenomenal. Wasn't busy but both waitresses were attentive and very nice people. Lastly, the location is awesome. You have a lovely view across Broadstairs harbour. Only thing you could say is slightly on the pricey side £80 for 3 courses for two people but for the quality of food and service delivered it was well worth it. I would definitely recommend paying Tartar Frigate a visit.
Lovely food, good portion size and nicely presented, friendly atmosphere and the good customer service,Food: 5/5
Excellent quality British food heavy on seafood given the location. The fish and chips had a crispy delicious carapace that was thick but just right. The haddock itself was flaky and fresh. A seabass with mussels was delicious, as were the vegetable sides. The cauliflower was curried which made for a nice contrast. Oysters were very fresh and offered a good start to the meal. Windows offer views of the harbour and the Atlantic Ocean. The staff were especially friendly and forthcoming. A very worthwhile visit. Parking: There is a paid for parking lot steps away from the restaurant.
Amazing food and service. Came here to celebrate my partners 50th. The service team are friendly and professional. Amazing quality food and wines. We were blown away. Oysters and squid to start. Skate and prawns for main with sauteed potatoes and veg deserts of chocolate caramel tart and gypsy tart were perfect, but we were so full . Absolutely perfect. Thank you for a lovely meal.
Thank you for making us so welcome today when we called in for lunch. Fantastic fish and chips. Oz really appreciated his gravy bones and bowl of water. Very friendly team. We'll be back in the new year. Happy Christmas.
