I'm writing this complaint because I'm dissatisfied with the service I received at Tameside Transmissions. In early November 2025, my Audi Q5 was taken in for diagnostics and replacement of the dual-mass flywheel and clutch. I noticed a strange noise when pressing the clutch pedal metallic friction. The noise disappeared after releasing the clutch pedal. The initial quote over the phone was £1,200. The car was brought in on a specific date. After a week of waiting, I received a call saying that there was nothing wrong with the car, that the noise wasn't coming from the clutch or dual-mass flywheel, but rather a piece of sheet metal rattling due to engine vibration. In January 2026, the car was taken to Awesome GTI for diagnostics, and they determined that the dual-mass flywheel and clutch needed to be replaced. I scheduled the replacement, and the noise disappeared. So, it was the dual-mass flywheel problem, not the sheet metal, as Tameside Transmissions claimed.
It's so good to come across a place like this where they take the time to be genuinely commit to addressing your problem. I had taken my Saab 900s to numerous mechanics who either didn't want to know or couldn't be bothered to identify the problem, whereas Tameside Transmissions, diagnosed the problem immediately and fixed it there and then, it wash only a bush that needed repositioning but at least they took the time to assist me, would definitely recommend without any hesitation.

Took my work van here for a full repair on the gearbox and new clutch. Seems like they've done a good job as the gears feel very smooth. Good communication throughout the process.
