I feel I need to post this review that must reach families and medical professionals. Back in October 2023, my now 20 year old daughter has been living with her father. He had cancer. She assisted him with life's basics and attended appointments with him.nUnfortunately, The cancer took hold, the hospital put him on end of life care. My daughter was not taken aside sufficiently by the GP and Nurses to explain the process. Towards the end, our daughter couldn't only sit by and watch him suffer. No one else was there. I couldn't be there due to the distance. On the day of his passing. Our daughter received a phone call by Nurses asking her to come in and sort some things out. She was told its nothing serious! When she arrived, they told her to go her Dad's room because he had died. She was not prepared to walk into a room and see her father laid out . Where was the phone call before he passed away, where was the support and preparation from end of life staff on what to expect. You left a 20 year old young woman who has never been in that situation, she has never seen a dead body. You just told her he was in his room. She was on her own at a late hour. I am astonished and disgusted. I would have expected a trained member of staff to take her into a family room, sit her down, tell her what has happened, prepare her for what she will see. Then, I can be contacted and support her.nIt's beyond disgraceful.
I had a procedure today at the Well Women’s Clinic, and despite the trepidation and nerves, I couldn’t have been in safer hands.nnLowri and Louise, you are both phenomenal medical professionals and I hope you receive the commendation you so thoroughly deserve; not once have I felt so genuinely cared for during any hospital visit, least of all in such emotionally charged circumstances. Thank you both so much for the work you do - you truly are assets to this hospital :
Beyond shocking experience.nWaiting 3 months for a CT scan result when you cannot eat any food is inhumane.nI’ve just been left with no answer, STILL no results!!!nENT receptionist makes me feel like an annoyance for ringing and asking about results.nWhen I got upset she accused me of shouting at her. Imagine not being able to eat solids since February and no one even caring. Not one follow up call, massive weight loss. They just don’t care.nBecoming severely depressed & begging for some results, the reply?n“I’ll email radiology, but they don’t tend to get back to us”nWhat’s the point?!nI advise insist to avoid this hospital at ALL costs.nThey just don’t care.
Shocking! Was told 3.5 hour wait for my daughter who was in pain, faint, raging temperature, throwing up and stomach pain. Query appendicitis/sepsis 5 hours later still sat on the floor and receptionist too rude to check how much longer but waiting times shot up to 7.5 hours. Worst place to be in pain.nn****Update years later****nn1 star still stands. Rude receptionists. I was a direct referral by GP and accepted prior to arrival. Was told I'd be directed straight through. That didn't happen and I wasn't seen for over 5 hours. Again sat on the floor. There is zero communication with patients.
I attended the early pregnancy unit as I’ve been referred as urgent for a ectopic pregnancy. On arrival the nurse did not even know why I was there or what I was having my bloods done for. I explained I’ve been told this is very serious and life threatening by the nurses who referred me to Tameside so it disgusts me and makes me feel so un safe nobody decided to read my medical notes upon my arrival ? I heard the nurse go into the room across from me talking to other nurses who then read my notes and explained what I was there for after the appointment took place which is pointless. I informed her I’m severely anxious of needles and am at risk of passing out. I have never felt such pain from a needle and she continued regardless of me begging multiple times please stop I feel dizzy. She did not talk to me, re assure me or say anything in that matter even with me letting her know I am terrified of needles she just said oh ok and continued getting the stuff ready then just went for it without a warning grabbing my arm and In it went. Nurses like that shouldn’t have a job it traumatises people who already are terrified of needles you’ve made it worse !! I was also told despite being in constant pain all over my body feeling very unwell, nauseas and faint I was told to go home until I start bleeding and being in severe pain to the point I can’t move then I can return to hospital for treatment because there are people bleeding therefor because I don’t have that symptom I’m fine and safe to go home. All the treatment I’ve been offered is another repeated blood test. I have rung stepping hill and they are in shock!! They’ve booked me in the next day for a scan and potential treatment which is what I was told Tameside should’ve done that day!!! But they disregarded my symptoms and shouldn’t be allowed to be open !!
