Is there a more beautiful city location in the UK; the bay is such a pleasure from the Tawe Barrage to Mumbles Pier. A connecting mixed use path joins the whole bay together, ideal for a walk, a bike ride, or a run. If you’re on a bike then this is part of the great NCN national cycle network 4, it leaves the bay at Blackpill to head on up Clyne Valley and out to the west. Favourite sections on the path are at the Swansea Marina, particularly the spot directly outside the Civic Hall, with steps that are ideal for an afternoon sunbathe. The green around the war memorial, in front of the cricket ground, is the site for many city events, like the Air Show and the Swansea 10k. Further west, at Blackpill, are the Foot Golf, across the road from the University sports ground, and then the Lido, a focus for families in the summer, with a cafe set in one of the old Mumbles Light Railway buildings. Finally, and busiest of all is the Mumbles seafront, with its many cafes, pubs, wine bars and restaurants, as well as lots of independent retailers. From the old Bus Station car park to the West End and Mumbles Pier, you will generally find this area very busy with promenaders enjoying the atmosphere.
Had a couple of proper sunny days over the Bank Holiday weekend. Under the right conditions absolutely spectacular. Must visit beautiful. Enjoy
Stunning, I had no idea Swansea has such a great beach
Beautiful bay any time of year, but just out of season it really is spectacular! Plenty of space, soft golden sand, easily accessible via steps or ramps. A few decent restaurants nearby notable is Grape & Olive, level 28 in the Meridian Tower.
Swansea is a great place to visit. It takes 15 minutes from the town centre to be on the countryside. Lovely sea view. Hiking, surfing, horse riding,etc.. Must visit place
We have lived in Swansea for many years and much has changed for the better. We have oodles of natural beauty, great entertainment like the airshow and award winning Swansea University. I do admit it rains a bit, but there is much to love about this area.
If you live near by the coast which and you are not a windy person then you should it's windy at Swansea University Bay campus all the time.
“A Bay Of Plenty” indeed. Stunning views from the G and O. Wonderful walks and bike rides along the prom from Marina to Mumbles. Lots of events throughout the year especially Airshow and Concerts/Bands in Singleton Park. Try Footgolf or even a weekly parkrun from the excellent 360 Sportslook them up to see what they offer at 9am on a Saturday. National Waterfront Museum and Marina at one end and the lovely village or Town of Mumbles at the other where Joe’s ice cream or Verdi’s are to be savoured. Go see our bay.....and enjoy!
I love this place, it's on our doorstep. Great for the kids to come a run off some energy, walk the dog or just enjoy the view. Plenty of places to park the car and grab a coffee. Or, bring a flask and some butties and wrap up in the winter as it can get a bit windy.
A nice sea beach. Good place for morning or evening walk, cycling, water sports etc. Can be enjoyed with family with kids or friends. Have different food corners and parks.
