TORCH have a great rc car track here. A very supportive club with some great members
I wish i could do 0 star review. School should be investigated for staff bullying children. I've never left a review before for any school so please read this before visiting. We visited with our son today as was advised to see. First glance it has a modern feel with money being spent on top of the line equipment. We was assigned 3 lovely boys to tour us round after a awkward mic chat from the head of school. The first thing your hear or lack of hear is any noise from anything. Dead silent most of the way round as every child has to keep there heads facing towards there book on the table unless spoken to. They are not allowed to stop during room transfers for lessons or even accidently bump into anyone. They have a HUB room. Hub being prison for children, a box room with tables spaced out solo. They send any child "misbehaving" here for from what we was told up to 6 times per offence. We walked up and 2 children turned to look at the door. The teacher shouted at them to Look Down Now and not to look anywhere else as they know why there here? Then smiling looks at me and says, I'm strict but fair.. poor kids... The 3 boys said with worry of being heard or caught later that there is a 2 strike late to class rule and your in the hub or 3 strike card they carry incase of loose tshirt or speaking out of context or even turning your head to look elsewhere. They looked terried and I just wanted to tell then it's not like this in the real world. My son has adhd and autism and he put a foot on a small stool as a teacher came over and shoved his foot off. To say I nearly blew was a understatement. I've been to college and university and never in my life have I felt so looked down on. They expect and force there will on the kids rather then conforming to the kids needs first. In 2023 this is the worst place I have ever visited and I had to say sorry to my son because he was so nervous after the visit. To the children at this school if you read this by chance, life is better then this and once your free of this dictatorship school you will see that. I'm sorry your suffering here and I hope your parents really look close at why your here and how you feel. Please don't let this school continue It's all a front for grades on the books.
Compared to Wildern School, Swanmore has been excellent. We have been very impressed with the level of support offered and the extra provision for students who experience anxiety or stress, related to their attendance at school. Excellent communication with home when things arise at school. Like many schools, the only issues we have heard are the queues at lunchtime and the misuse of toilets, which is probably the same in every school. Of course, everyone has their own personal opinion about schools, based on their child's experience, but ours is very positive and we have been impressed with the education our daughter has received since making the difficult switch from Wildern at the start of Year 10.
I attended Swanmore collage in year 9 I was a happy confident girl with a lot to say, a lot of questions to ask. The teachers completely knocked my confidence down to 0 , if I was ever crying or distressed I’d get told off more. This isn’t a place for you if your child suffers with mental health or any additional needs. I was sent to the “hub” for having a chocolate bar in my pocketwhich is a freezing cold sports hall you’re locked in with no break no fresh air and to write on a piece of paper for the whole day. Nasty place and due to my mental health deteriorating from being picked on everyday by teachers I was unable to finish year 11 and had to go to collage to do my GCSEs
The school makes me want to turn myself into a vegetable and live the rest of my life underground
This school shouldn't be open ,the teachers tell students off for an untucked shirt but not for punching someone and in no way possible is the hub a good idea . Sending a student there so they don't disrupt learning when you are disrupting theirs . The food is unhygienic and the places that students are forced to eat are worse. I could rate it worse if I could
Can’t manage bullying and cares more about uniform than education. When disciplined you have to go to the ‘hub’ where you stay in there and do nothing for a range of 1-4 days.
I have 3 children currently at Swanmore College and so far it has vastly exceeded my expectations. Any questions or concerns you have are dealt with almost immediately and with a good level of understanding. All staff that I have dealt with are open and friendly. They have been brilliant throughout lockdown and the standard of online lessons has been superb. Based on my experience to date I would highly recommend this school.
If I could id build a robot of myself to send to this school so I didn't have to go and that's not even a joke.
From what from my beloved children have said, the school is going down the loo, putting children in 'the lerning hub' to do exam paper which IS NOT learning. I don't care if the school is the 'best in Hampshire by grades' it should be the best for its time, growth and learning that my child can have, learning yes being miserable no. "its like a prison" - my child. Also with the introduction of the new uniforms and very strict rules it is making every girl in particular feel like they are not allowed to be themselves during school hours. I would give it less stars if I could.
