Another great stay at The Swan. All the staff are friendly and helpful. A special Thank You to Cameron for his thoughtful email to warn me that Market Street is currently closed. There is a good selection of Thatchers Ciders, Gins and Whisky. Their food menu is very tempting and we will be back to try it. The rooms have always been clean, tidy and a good size and are well decorated. We had the cooked breakfast and both were cooked to perfection.
I ate here on a Monday evening with my wife, two teenage children and parents in law. The food was excellent with a decent range of what I might call good quality/high end pub grub. I thoroughly enjoyed the slow roast brisket, the fish and chips was a well received and popular option in our group and my son enjoyed the hunter's chicken. We just stuck with starters and mains and left feeling nicely full. There was a decent range of classic deserts which were tempting but we had birthday cake waiting for us at home. Apart from the barman refusing to take a photo of our group he was too busy at the bar apparently the service was good. I liked the, what appeared to be recently refurbished, decor in the restaurant bare brick with dark blue walls although some might prefer a bit more natural light. I can imagine it being particularly welcoming once the cooler temperatures necessitate the lighting of the large wood burning stove in the restaurant. With a car park just round the corner driving to it was no problem although it prevented me sampling what appeared to be a lovely wine list. Would definitely recommend and I look forward to returning.
Was here for a two-night stay for work. This charming and comfortable property was a great choice. My room was spacious, comfortable and very well-appointed. The shower was excellent and bed comfortable. The staff were exemplary. They were, without exception, friendly, professional, and welcoming. Pub was enjoyable and breakfast options plentiful.
We booked Granny into the Swan as we eat there regularly and love the cosy welcoming atmosphere. No surprise then that she loved the personable local family atmosphere during her stay. Breakfast and a superb dinner were particular highlight and nothing was too much trouble for the Swan team. The room was spacious, quirky but beautifully maintained and cleaned. Granny can't wait to come back again.
A really lovely experience. We arrive early, and the woman at reception had no issue with that at all. When she couldn't find the key to the room we had selected, she asked if she could show us another, and it had a lovely 4 poster, with a large picture window outside of which an old magnolia was blooming. Such a pretty atmosphere. Room was clean, with a huge selection of teas and coffees. Had Sunday lunch in the restaurant, which was served homestyle read: large, generous portions, and was delicious. In the morning, we had a simple, light breakfast ... which was all we needed to get us ready for the next part of our Cotswold Way walk. Every staff member we met here was fun, friendly and seem to go out of their way to ensure you felt taken care of. Expecting a simple stay at an old pub inn, but got a much-better-than-expected room and truly 5-star service.
We wanted somewhere to meet friends midweek, comfortable, relaxed and welcoming. The Swan ticked all those boxes. Parking was easy, there is both on road and a good sized car park less than 2 minutes walk. The Swan is old fashioned in style and quirky with undeveloped floors and walls. The range of drinks was very good, well presented and priced with a helpful barman. The lounge was clean and warm with a changing clientele over the course of the evening. We would definitely recommend meeting friends for drinks in the lounge.
My favourite pub in Wotton. A beautiful country pub. Comfy, well maintained Fabulous food - never had a bad meal there. Good value for money. Very friendly staff. 10/10. Lots of vegan options.Service: 5/5
Beautiful Georgian hotel with original features, gorgeous rooms and nooks and crannies. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Best of all, it's dog friendly! Be prepared for climbing up a few flights of stairs to reach your room but it's worth it. Fantastic view of the Cotswold countryside from my third-floor room. Only gave the room 4 stars as the mattress was thin and saggy. Not comfortable. Needs replacing. Tasty, freshly cooked food. Plenty of variety on the menu. Great breakfasts and evening meals. Would definitely recommend but they need to sort out the mattress.
My mum has just stayed at The Swan and really enjoyed her stay. She was due to visit in December but the snow and ice meant that her visit had to be rearranged. The Swan were really kind and accommodating, allowing her to change her booking to February which I'd requested. Her room was beautiful and well equipped, and the staff were all very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here!
Caution vegans. We went to the Swan for a roast and I ordered the vegan option. When it arrived there was a large Yorkshire pudding on top. As this isn't usually a vegan item, and didn't look like any vegan Yorkshire I've seen, I queried it with the manager. He immediately assured me that it was vegan. I wasn't convinced and thankfully I asked another member of staff who confirmed with the kitchen that it actually wasn't vegan. He suggested I offer it to another diner but did not replace my dinner. The rest of the roast dinner was ok, but not worth the price charged. And that is apart from the vegan gravy I was served, which was more like a jam or a chutney and so sweet that I ended up feeling quite sick. I will say that the actual nut roast slice served was pretty good and I did enjoy that, apart from the gravy/jam that was all over it. Aside from the food, the venue was lovely, very cosy and comfortable. The majority of the staff I spoke to were really kind and helpful and when I did make a complaint it was taken seriously by the member of staff I spoke to. The manager however came off as stressed, even panicky, and I appreciate it was a busy night, but it made us feel a little awkward and at one point he tried to take my plate away while I was still eating. I'm also very concerned that he advised me something was vegan which wasn't. As a manager, he should take dietary requirements seriously, as if I'd followed his directions I could have ended up very unwell due to food intolerances. I don't feel that that's ok at all. I'd recommend the place for a drink and I think they had some nice games to play too, but I wouldn't recommend the food, especially if you have specific dietary requirements, allergies or intolerances.
