Although I’ve rated this establishment as average....it seems a bit harsh...but I would rate as good. This pub/ restaurant has plenty of space. Located near the river, it looks out over a busy intersection. There is parking on site and on the road. We didn’t access the Wi-fi, so cannot comment on this. Clean and spacious, this restaurant is well run. Staff were courteous and hard working. There is a wide choice on the menu although our choices of Sunday roasts didn’t test the menu too far.... The food was well cooked and tasty. We all felt that there just wasn’t enough food on the plates and this was disappointing. It wasn’t clear to us that we needed to order at the bar. No big deal, but maybe should be part of the welcome...Perhaps we arrived at a bad time. Prices are reasonable and well within our expectations for this type of restaurant.
Lovely backstreet local pub serving excellent fresh food made from local produce. The decor is rustic but well maintained. The staff are knowledgable and helpful and quick with the service. The selection of drinks on and behind the bar is good. If you want to eat, I would book ahead as it is not the largest of places and I can imagine on an evening especially it will get busy quickly. I would wholly recommend this place for food and drink. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area. Infinitely better than the chain eateries. Accepts cards and cash.
The roast was okay. However the best in Brighton? No not close. The veg needs more flavour for example add a little mint to the peas or honey to the carrots. The potatoes really wasn't crispy. I was satisfied and full but I can cook better at home, I pay to eat food that I cannot cook at home.
Lovely, real English pub. We literally queued out the door yesterday, but it was well worth the wait. Great pint, great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Best roast I've ever had! Had the pulled pork shoulder, so tasty!! Also a really nice looking place, good service and calm interior. Recommend booking a table on Sundays
Well I would have liked to have enjoyed the food but 15 minutes of ringing out just after opening on the 29/01/23 and nobody to pick up the phone.
This is a lovely little pub a stone's throw from the train station. I just stayed for a few drinks but there is a good back bar and the staff are really friendly. The range of dishes on the menu has something from everyone and from the plates I could see coming from the kitchen I'll definitely be back soon to try the food.
Visited for an impromptu pub lunch with the team and we were all not disappointed. We all opted to not actually drink so I can't speak to how the drinks are but the food was fantastic. They had a varied and fun menu that had the pub favourties and some unique eats. Plenty of options for veggie too. I had a sweet potato burger that came topped with beetroot and halloumi..YUMM!. The side salad was also so refreshing, cabbage, cucumber, radish, carrots, and so much more. The chips were also fresh and crispy. Only thing I would suggest would be a sauce with the burger as it's served on a ciabatta which is bit of drier bread. I would definitely recommend and would be back for lunch without a doubt.
Eaten here several times and it never disappoints! Venison, blue cheese and beet root burger and probably the best side salad you will ever get.
Nice place for a roast. Friendly staff and nice ambiance. Portions are enormous but was a bit disappointed with the flavours, very bland and simmilar, expected more in terms of quality.
