First time of using last night and having been disappointed by most sit down Indian restaurants in Chelmsford I am pleased to find a takeaway that beat all those restaurants hands down. Very happy and only a 2 minute walk away. Efficient service and lovely food
No vegan options at all. I called to enquire about their vegan options and they said no options were vegan. I asked if that also included their veggie options and they said yes. Again I tried to clarify that every single dish had milk or egg or butter in them and they said yes. Honestly has blown my mind. Just to warn fellow vegans
tikka massalas with zero taste.... nothing, wouldn't have known I was eating from a Indian. I can cook better on a week night with no experience in the Indian cuisine. Meat chewy to top it all off. pros... least the poppadom was nice.
Having had takeaways from Suraya on numerous occasions EXTREMELY disappointed with our order this evening. We both chose biryanis, King Prawn for myself and Tandoori Chicken for my husband which is our usual order. There are normally quite a number of prawns in my biryani, today no more than half a dozen and the vegetable curry totally tasteless. My husband found the tandoori chicken sponges and unpleasant and ate very little. Having telephoned suraya to give them our feedback it was met with total lack of interest ....... I am sure there are better options and we will certainly not repeat the experience and there will be no recommendations from us. Clearly it is not just the food that is unpleasant !
Ordered Chicken and Mushroom Biriani , chicken Dupiaza, popadoms, onion Onion Bhaji, pilau rice. Nice big portions. Plenty for two of us. Lots of chicken, but the taste was disappointing. The chicken tasted as if it had been poorly marinated or cooked separately and was really dry. This is the closest to me, I ended in effect paying £4 to have it delivered. I was disappointed here a few years ago, thought I would try it again. I won’t be going back. Prefer to use the Nepalese in town.

My experience with this restaurant is disastrous! I have placed an order at home and the delivery man delivered the order to another address without checking that it was the correct one, on top of that, they did not even return my money. A tremendous lack of professionalism.
This is definitely the best Indian takeaway in Chelmsford. The food is always spiced to the right degree, it arrives hot and super tasty. I won't use any other takeaway, they don't have a patch on Suraya.
I ordered on line and it indicated the order would take 95minutes.I then phoned them and eventually got through was told to come in 40 mins. I turned up at the time they said and was told it was being packed up 30 minutes later when I enquired when it would be ready told it was still being cookedYes they were busy however didnt appreciate being lied to When got home sides were just warm the curry very non discript would not go there again spoilt my husbands birthday
