Lovely small and old style pub. Sits in its own grounds with nice garden. Nice food and beer. Not expensive and good value for money. No loud music or TV blasting away. Hard to believe you're close to a busy city. You'd almost think you're in the lake district national park  especially in winter with the roaring fire.

An excellent pub and wonderful hosts. Only a lack of disabled access prevents me from giving it all 5 stars.

Good warm welcome. Drinks at a decent price. No canned music, no annoying mobiles, no tablets, no TVs. Good beer, good conversation, good folks.

Just for the name food also not to bad.

This could be the best place I've ever discovered. It boasts warm and welcoming staff, a cosy atmosphere and cheap pints. The food is outstanding and portion size is incredible.
