Stayed here in October, well priced and basic facilities. Owners were very chatty, felt quite uncomfortable though as there were some remarks made about how they don't welcome certain people.. It was alright for a quick one night stop over, just had food, slept then left. Very close to John O'Groats and we'd been driving all day so needed a quick find
Good revues most of them - pity a few of them are about a different but unknown campsite - there are only two showers not four. The owners were polite and caring all the time, with lots of good advice. It's a basic site, clean and tidy - there is water fill-up, washing up room, waste water disposal, electricity and more - everything is included in the price which was £16 for two of us in a motorhome. All facilities and dogs we have two are free. all in all a good camping ground.
Yeah its rustic and doesn't come with all the modern facilities, but it has what you need for a one night stop. Nice clean toilets and an area to wash your dishes. Flat and comfortably spaced pitches too.
Basic but reasonably priced camp site with a fantastic view out to the Orkney’s.
Exactly as it said on the tin! Toilets and wash-hand basins only. Extra charge for showers etc. Small site set in a garden but John who owns it was chatting and engaging. For £10 per night what more do you need?
This review will be very honest. We chose this place as it was not one of the sites closer to attractions, so we presumed more friendly.. We we're planning to stay 2 nights to just wind down, then continue our travels. On arrival I paid £10 to Rosemary and politely listened to her life story for the next 15 minutes.. We we're told to choose a pitch. 1 hour later John knocked on the door to ask if we were happy where we'd parked..? If we wanted to fill up with water or empty the loo, that would be £5 extra. I said this was not a problem and returned inside. He knocked again shortly after to say if we weren't staying then we need vacate the pitch by 11am as it is LAW to do so in Scotland. We felt unwelcome and slightly pestered, so would leave in the morning. I paid £5 to Rosemarm earlier next morning. At 10.45 we drove to the house to fill with water. John came over the garden to say it was gone 11 and the water was turned off now. I pointed out that it was only 10.45 and I had paid my £5.. Rosemary appeared and John shouted at her as to why she hadn't done it. I said "because I hadn't asked". When John wasn't looking she said, "see what I have to put up with". Oh my goodness, it was like a sketch from "Tales of the Unexpected". Please be aware, Johns words "This is an overnight packing facility. NOT a campsite. £5 extra charge for water before 11am and loo emptying". Good luck "campers", lol.
Fab little stopover for getting an early morning ferry. Very clean, facilities are basic but all you need. Really good for the money in my opinion. Host chatty and could not have been more helpful.
John and Rosemary were so welcoming, friendly and attentive. The toilet/shower facilities were very clean and for a small site it was spacious. Unbelievably innovative aux lead system for the showers
Fairly small and basic site but friendly owner, clean facilities and plenty of electric hook up. Stayed in a tent when the winds were gusting over 30mph but still had a comfortable night. The only bad point is showers are an extra fee but this is understandable.
Totally suited our needs. Nothing fancy but facilities were there and very usable. Excellent price of £10 per night - hook ups available and please don't drive on the owners grassed areas ..he does not like it. Stick to the gravel.
