I've been attending the Senior swimming sessions on Friday afternoons for the past few years and find it very beneficial for my health and it fits in with my working life. The staff are all friendly and helpful, the pool and changing rooms are clean, the other swimmers are a FANTASTIC, FRIENDLY GROUP who enjoy this session too. Yes, it pays to book your next swim in advance and I find it easy on the app, but you can book it at the desk if that suits you. Thank you for keeping this facility and session running, it is very important for me.... 5*'s
The best thing I can say about this place is, it’s clean and surrounded by nice scenery. However as it is now a chain ran leisure centre it seems that there is zero care for the customer. You pay extortionate prices to get anxiety every week when you try to book on for swimming because they’re over subscribed and it’s nearly impossible to get a place. I have to set an alarm on my phone every night just to make sure I get a place.. only for the app to crash. I have two children under two and I want to go to sleep but I can’t do that or I wont get a place. They need more slots for swimming and shorter sessions to give people a chance!
This gym provides a great variety of fitness classes with an amazing set of instructors. I highly recommend the dance fitness, aerobics, pilates and spin classes. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to get a spot in the classes as they are normally fully booked.
It used to be good, now it's grubby and expensive. It has an absurd swimming booking system where you book so that they can keep a waiting list and you have to wait till the last minute to know if you can swim. The pool is dirty and always overcrowded. The last straw for me was asking in vain for the ear splitting music in the gym to be turned down, twice, so that I could hear my own music. So I cancelled my direct debit and they sent two emails from no reply addresses accepting my cancellation of membership and telling me I owed them money. There is no request for feedback or any way to contact them. Stroud District Council need to take back the centre from this shoddy company now, not wait till the end of 2024.
Dreadful place. Extremely difficult to book a swim yet pool can be empty. There is no reason to continue COVID rules. Timetable needs an overhaul and the staff need some training. They don't appear to employ proper cleaning staff so place is disgusting. I wish there was another leisure centre close to Stroud. It is extremely poor value for money.
How’s it fair to pay full price and you can shut when you want . If it needs cleaning then get it done at night like any well run establishment. This place is a joke.
Been going here for years on a corporate membership but it just gets worse. Confusing membership cost, discount for some and not others if it's a corporate deal everyone needs to get the same price!. Terrible non existent customer care/sale service. They would rather lose a member than offer a minimal 10% discount. Some staff friendly others not so. App is awful. Gym equipment often out of service, full of teens mucking about and classes fully booked.
Very expensive gym membership with a confusing fee structure which I can only assume is in place to extract maximum profit from unsuspecting customers. The company who manages the place Everyone Active is a complete joke. They never pick up the phone, the website and app are atrocious. In the gym: Men’s changing room always stinks like it’s permanently inhabited by a legion of unwashed teenage boys. There is no sink or loo, and only has a communal shower room. Outdoor pool is nice in the summer when they get round to opening it but the kids pool is rarely open. Outdoor swimming will be cancelled when raining ?! and you will only find out upon arrival because their booking system is so low budget that they unable to send an email to inform you. Changing rooms and reception are reminiscent of a soviet morgue.
I visit the gym twice a week to work on my biceps afterwards I go in the pool to cool down
This review is just about the indoor pool. It was great to have a unisex changing room, my husband and I got changed together and shared a locker. The changing rooms were clean, as was the pool. Frustratingly you still have to book, we chose the over 50s swim on a Friday afternoon, it was very busy, and sometimes difficult to swim a length without catching up with someone, but a lovely, quite social, atmosphere. Individual shower cubicles with lockable doors are available for after the swim, but not suitable for a 'proper' shower, ie washing hair etc as the push button gives about 5 seconds of water before stopping. There's nowhere to put your shower gel/shampoo etc and the cubicles are tiny.
