I was very surprised by others' poor reviews because we popped in today and had a lovely lunch. Yes you have to walk through the shop to get to the cafe buts that's how sales works. Was busy and lively, inside had lovely high ceilings. Grab a menu, grab a seat, and then order at the tills. Was quick and easy, free water available by the cutlery, which was a nice touch. Jacket potato was huge, and my husbands sandwich had loads if filling. Food came out in 5 mins despite it being busy. Staff were busy clearing tables and friendly. Far better than the New Farm Shop cafe for food and portions. Highly recommend! We will definitely be returning. They also do children's lunch boxes and a large selection of cafe. Large area of indoor and outdoor seating and large free car park. Kid-friendliness: Lots of mummies here with babies. Also good kids menu.
Our order for lunch and 2 cups of tea was taken at the till by an unsmiling and quite frankly rude waitress. This instantly made us feel uncomfortable. We then waited an hour and 20 minutes to receive our food which was nice. When our tea still hadn’t turned up after we’d had finished our food we needed to go so asked them to cancel the tea order and give us a refund which I am still waiting to reach my account, despite the original bill being debited straight away. After a lovely morning shopping in the garden centre this was not the lovely lunch experience we were hoping to finish with. Stooks really needs to work on its customer service.
We came as a family group, but paid separately. Food all arrived separately so we could not enjoy a group lunch. Hot drinks taken at point of sale, were already luke warm, and had to be consumed immediately and long before food arrived. Slow delivery - ordered two burgers a few mins apart, kitchen thought it was a mistake, and cancelled one - whilst they apologised, there was no gesture for their error. Had to ask for scones to be warmed, sandwich should have been nice but experience was negative.
New menu on its way as new Exec Chef appointed. Currently reduced menu, no specials. Usually very, very good food selection and service in the restaurant. There is also a cafe serving tea, coffee, pastries and AMAZING cakes .Food: 4/5
With Stooks only about one third full we had to wait 20 minutes after ordering 2 coffee. When I went to chase up to order was told ‘ lovely coffee takes time’ . The coffee was not that good. Stooks has gone downhill since it was taken over by Blue Diamond. Shame! Wheelchair accessibility: We stopped for coffee and borrowed a wheelchair from the store. Then had to manoeuvre it through the closely packed displays a long way to Stooks for coffee. The staff should practice and improve their layout.
No hot food served between 11-12. Selection of unappetising cakes and pastries available. You can order a beer thou!
Was told at checkout 15min wait for hot drinks, breakfast arrived in timely fashion but tea and coffee didn't arrive until 25 mins from order breakfast eaten by then There appeared to be ample staff to deal with the amount of customers.Very poor service on the whole
Great food. It can occasionally be busy so have patience. The pudding/desserts are so fabulous!!! They at top notch!
Due to layout was forced to walk through all their non-plant products just to reach the cafe - goodness knows how anyone with mobility issues must feel - and when we finally arrived at the cafe the prices were ridiculous. £8.95 for a sausage roll is extortionate and it didn't even look very appetising. Left and went to a delightful little cafe in Southwater that was excellent quality at sensible prices. Won't go to Stooks again.
Very poor.went for a sandwich and coffee for lunch.no bacon left,so settled for 2 cheese and pickle sandwiches, bread and cheese both out of a packet.staff good but no care obviously in what they serve, and high prices.wouldnt go back
