I have just read Mr Brady’s review below and have to say that his experience of Staysure and their underwriters, ERV mirrors mine exactly!! Six months after having to cancel my holiday due to my father dying suddenly 3 days before our departure date, ERV have thrown up every obstacle imaginable to ‘decline’ my claim. Finally, I was effectively told to go away and take the matter up with the Ombudsman if I was unhappy. I did this, and when the Ombudsman’s initial recommendation was to reimburse me for the lost holiday, ERV then rejected this outcome and are now demanding that I provide my father’s medical records for the 2 years before he died! All this despite my father’s GP having told them that my dad’s death was ‘sudden and unexpected ‘. Please don’t try to say this is nothing to do with you Staysure. You were paid for the policy and solicit the great feedback from the people who buy the policies. You also have chosen to appoint ERV as your underwriters, and I concur totally - they are a thoroughly unsympathetic, dismissive and unsavoury lot to deal with. If you really care about providing a genuinely good service experience to your customers you should address how ERV behave when acting on your behalf - particularly as this is likely to be at times of genuine distress or financial concern. Unless you do, I feel you are effectively taking money under false pretences.

no way of saving quote!  The advise given was that a quote could not be saved unless I registered first and there was no way I could do this unless I reapplied.  Left web site and reapplied for a quote and there was an increase of £3+  Thanks very much Staysure  Insurance- I'll use LV next time much more user friendly and accurate at giving advise.

Staysure have the art of manipulating feedback down to a fine art! Badger the customer when they have just parted with their money after a pleasant chat (mostly), and then deny all responsibility afterwards if you ever need to make a claim. They then pass you to their underwriters - ERV, who are the rudest, most unsympathetic bunch of shysters you will ever come up against. Cancellation due to the sudden death a parent, brother or partner will all be rejected by quoting some deliberately hidden clause in the screeds of small print.  Extra costs incurred due to aircraft cancellations or missed flights will also be rejected. Taking out a policy with this lot is like taking a placebo - it might make you feel better at the time, but it's fundamentally worthless.

update: I have no interest in contacting you again about this as I have no confidence that you have the slightest inclination to do anything about the modus operandi of ERV, your underwriters. By rejecting everything they keep your premiums down (as they don't have to pay out anything), and you get more business! A win/win scenario - unless of course you are an innocent customer who only finds out that their policy is worth as much as a 10 peseta coin when their holiday plans are affected by family bereavement or other such unavoidable events. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

P.S.  I notice you are up to your old tricks of fiddling the review statistics by having employees leave positive 5 star reviews to boost the stats.  Edward Soul's review (below) says it's a 'great place to work'. That's as maybe, but I think what the public care about is do the policies that they buy from you actually provide any cover in the case of a holiday emergency or unavoidable cancellation. From my experience, that's where it all falls down   :-(

Avoid Staysure - use the Co-Op instead (InsureAndGo) - they are cheaper and will cover medical conditions that Staysure won't.
I recently upgraded my father's insurance, which he had had for many years but it was only when Staysure emailed me the documents that I realised he was not covered for several medical conditions. And has never been covered for those conditions, although he thought he was because he had declared them all. 
At no point during several telephone conversations (for all of which I had to wait half-an-hour to get through) did anyone think to mention to me that my elderly father was not covered for his medical conditions. Of course, it was there in the small print amongst 40+ pages of documentation but they didn't bother mentioning it to me when I took over responsibility for the policy and paid money to upgrade it.
When I then tried to add cover for his conditions they would not cover him and when I tried to get a refund for the useless policy they were very unwilling - in the end the only way to get back my money was to cancel the whole policy.
So Staysure have lost a long-term customer but they just didn't care.
Avoid them - we are now using the Co-Op (via InsureAndGo) who will cover medical conditions for older people.
