the square is not actually a geometric square, but it is a nice place and good location if you are looking to use a bus or tram probably not ideal if you are looking for a plane or a ferry as they are located outside of the square. You should have a look at the transport schedule before hand but it is in a good location and allows you to get close to the library which has many books. have a good day !
Every time i walk around Manchester Center, there are many peoplendoing different activities, busking, skating, dancing, interviewing, etc. I think St. Peter Square is the heart of Manchester as so other principal areas of this amazing city. Perhaps is related with the history that has every single stone that sorround the area, the energy from the past suddenly takes place in every corner, every step, every glance or every smile. Absolutely a magic place.
Stayed just off of here and was really nice to commute through. Can get fairly busy at the tram stops but it is a beautiful walk through no matter how many times you go! Shame about the town hall being covered but a nice walk.
If you are looking for the small memorial to 'The Peterloo massacre at St Peters Square' then you need to walk to the back of the Midlands Hotel but to the left of the Convention Centre. On the footpath are a series of raised concentric concrete discs. Many people don't know that the events at St Peters Fields was the site of this step towards universal manhood suffrage preceding universal women's suffrage by about a century. It isn't a large monument and you could walk by it or even over it. However the whole of the area is very pleasant as other reviewers have described, and it is worth a moment of reflection here.
Love this place. The Manchester trams can be caught here and the place is absolutely heaving. As all cities should be it was packed around here all ages of folk out and about and I've not seen pubs as busy as they were in Manchester for many a year.nCouldn't see any of the church or monuments around the square as looks like they are currently doing some renovating but I'm sure will be for the best when completed
