St Mary's Church is a magnificent medieval church and one of East Lothian's finest historic landmarks. The impressive Gothic architecture, soaring tower, and beautifully crafted stonework reflect centuries of history and exceptional craftsmanship. Inside and out, the church has a peaceful atmosphere and a wealth of fascinating architectural details, making it a rewarding place to visit
My husband, dog and I visited St Mary’s church on a Tuesday afternoon during the “open time”.nnWe were greeted and welcomed by three volunteers. The volunteers were absolutely lovely, but not in an overbearing way, but in a way that they were genuinely keen for us to get the most out of our visit. It was also clear that St Mary’s is a very special place for them and they want to share that with others.nnThey invited us to join them in saying a prayer at 2pm. One of the volunteers provided a bowl of water for our dog which was appreciated. Another volunteer showed us lots of hidden gems in the church building which we wouldn’t have noticed.nnIt is a beautiful church building with a great history.nnNot all churches, sadly, get their welcome and hospitality right. But St Mary’s did when we visited. Thank you.
Beautiful venue with great acoustics. My early music ensemble 'Breve Encounters' played there last Sunday 10th.
Beautiful church to visit . We had a lovely gentleman who explained us a bit of the history of the church and the lady of the gift shop was equally as lovely and both very welcoming . The church is very beautiful inside and it's very interesting to see the coming together of old and new side of the church . If you are in Haddington it's definitely worth the visit not only for the church but also for the history and people.
A beautiful church. unfortunately I was in the morning. I could not enter him yet. the cemetery that was around was also magical. very many tombstones have been preserved.
