I attended this afternoon for a covid booster. I find it hard to understand why i waited outside for 45 minutes beyond my appointment time along with many others when the ID checks and injection only takes a couple of minutes. Fortunately the weather was mild. I will be avoiding this surgery in future.
There is no point to share, as clearly St.Marys managers are not reading, not responding..And future patients will understand, why 2,5 stars given, if they will read reviews..Nothings changed so far..
In all honesty I am shocked by the low standards that seem to have become a norm at this surgery. In the 30 years at my previous surgery which wasn't especially good I did not encounter the following; 1. Consistent 40 minute wait on appointment phone service usually all appointments have gone the most recent call being answered then 'hanging up' after 3 seconds by impatient call centre staff 2. 'Lost' specimen, no apology, no explanation, phone request to collect another specimen and re-do sample 3. 4 visits to pharmacy. Each prescription incorrectly written by GP's. 4. Re-configured, small single staffed reception area.. Many staff in closed off office area. Reception design allows no patient privacy. Breaches GDPR , whoever came up with this idea has little regard for patient confidentiality. Single receptionist understandably struggles with volume of incoming face to face and phone call patient enquiries. 5. Entrance; 2 sets of double doors, tiny inner corridor. No facility for public waiting in queue. Children and adults with mobility issues have greater difficulty negotiating these doors. 6. Calls are dealt with by call centre. Call centre staff common response to queries is 'I don't know '. It's questionable as to how much training they receive. One such example; when I asked for the name of a recent GP , I was told they weren't allowed to give out staff names. When I finally received the missing document that the GP had forgotten to send, it had their name at bottom.. There's more, but that's some of what I've experienced in the past 3 month's. It's not the fault of individual staff. It's more about the lack of surgery organisation. Do they have a surgery manager actually based and dedicated to St Mary's I doubt it ? Do they respond proactively to customer feedback they're doing a patient survey at the moment. We will be moving to a different surgery and one not run by Maritime Health. The good people of Strood deserve better!
Ridiculous I called in the morning the appointment option was not available, i just walked in try to speak in reception for appointment, but they can't give me, after finally can call but 1 hours later thay said me not have any appointments.
What a difference! After terrible service at my previous Drs surgery I have registered here. The receptionist yesterday was very friendly and helpful and as promised after fulling out the e consul form I have just received a call back and my prescription is being sent to the pharmacy! This will sound ridiculous, but after the problems and obstructions caused by my previous drs surgery "resulting in having had no blood pressure tablets for the last three weeks I am overjoyed! Thank you so much for listening to me.
In all the years that I've been using this surgery, the staff have never given me cause to complain.
I telephoned my registered GP surgery which is St. Mary's Island, as I needed a referral on the advice of Boots Pharmacy Audiologist. After the usual automated screening I opted for a receptionist call back. This happened within an hour and I was pleasantly surprised at that, how times change! The receptionist listened to my request, asked relevant questions and advised that I would need to speak with a Dr and should expect a call sometime within 3 hours. A Dr called me, asked questions and decided that he needed to see me, can I make it to the surgery that afternoon. No longer surprised, now full shock! Obviously I accepted the appointment and was then told to not go to my local GP surgery but attend St Mary's Medical Centre in Strood, all part of the same group apparently. When I arrived at the surgery there was parking available, polite receptionist and clean waiting room. Th Dr called me to the rooms, listened to my tale of woe and despatched me with a prescription and a booked appointment as a follow up. Great service.
I ordered a repeat prescription, i emailed the surgery with my exact medication as it has recently changed dose and type of tablet. The doctors sent the wrong medication, my old tablets. When i collected from the pharmacy the bag was closed as usual. I got home and realised, called the doctors and they sent out the correct prescription. When i collected i was told i had to pay again as they cant re-use the medication i gave back. So i just had to pay for the doctors mistake. I have another complaint. When/IF you finally get through after the automated message banging on and on about covid and what number to press god forbid you miss your number! Only to be spoken to like something someone stepped in. Receptionist-"Whats your name!?" Me-" oh i dont have an appointment im just calling trying to arrange one" Receptionist-" doesn't matter, Whats your Name!?" Me-I state my name, even though i need an appointment for my child. I stated mine as the Receptionist is already in a horrible mood and quiet honestly it shocked me. Receptionist-"no appointments left for today you'll have to ring 111 or try again tomorrow. I end the conversation with a "right thanks alot, bye." Honestly i believe i could call the local premier Inn or one of the nail salons in Strood and be spoken to with more manners than at this so called doctors surgery. People who work in care, whether they are a nurse, doctor or receptionist should be kind caring people. She had no idea what was going on with me that day, i struggle with depression and for all she knew i could have been suicidal. If you have a job in the care industry, make sure you're not a horrible person, please!
I've always find the staff extremely helpful and caring. Well done to you Jackie and your team. 4 years on i still don't have a problem..I think half the time people don't know how to speak with other. Everyone has bad days staff are no exception. Just remember be kind and you will reap the benefits
Insanely poor treatment of a patient, I would go as far to say medical neglect, cancellation of appointments, booked weeks in advance, an hour before hand with no reason given, after receiving reminds to attend the appointment every day for the last week. Disgraceful service all round.
