Since moving to Sevenoaks around 18 months ago myself and my family have used this service on a number of occasions. We previously used Kings Hill and West Malling who’s back office was an absolute shambles. I am pleased to say in our experience when compared it’s like night and day with St John’s. We have always had an appointment when needed which was easy to arrange and particularly the two ladies who work on the reception desk couldn’t be more helpful and easy to deal with. Credit where credit is due hence the post
8 times my call cut off. When I finally got through the queue to speak to someone took 33 min. I was told no appointments available until 2nd week in April. I was told to go to sevenoaks hospital. So this practice has no concern for its patients
I have been a patient at St John's for 16 years. I has had it's ups and downs over that time, not helped by the pandemic, but I really think it is getting better and better. I phoned up for an appointment on Monday and the person who answered the phone was very sympathetic. I was offered an appointment for the next day and the doctor I saw, Dr Frost, was so empathetic, and helpful. I came out of her office feeling more positive and happy than I have in months as I really felt listened to and not made to feel like a time waster. I very much hope the surgery keeps going in this direction as it was the best experience I've had there for years.
Thirty minute wait to get through to the receptionist. When I finally got through there were no appointments left. I will now need to call tomorrow or wait for a future appointment booked in for 12 days time. Last time I called I couldn't get through to the practice at all.
I have been a patient at St John's HIll since it split with the Otford surgery, which is a long time ! Over the last few years it hasn't been easy to get an appointment and I have previously ended up paying for a digital GP appointment. I called the surgery at 8.20 this morning to make an appointment. I was number 6 in the queue and got answered after 11 minutes of holding. The receptionist was freindly, professional and helpful. I got an appointment for the same day. Arriving at the surgery the greeting at reception was warm and friendly. They were busy answering phones and dealing with walkin patients. I saw the doctor within a few minutes of arriving. She gave me time to explain what I was there for and I didnt feel rushed. All done and dusted in a short time, with my prescription on its way to the chemist. Which I duly picked up within 30 minutes. I would like to say thank you for the great service, you get 5 stars from me :
As someone who works in the healthcare I expect better. The receptionists were nice but the doctors, I’m afraid to say I have little faith in. The last straw was yesterday when the doctor took my blood pressure incorrectly and wouldn’t even look at me when talking to me. I’ve been back and forth to the practice for over 8 months with the same issue without them finding the cause whilst doing the same tests. The practice is very poor and I wouldn’t recommend the service.
Credit where credit is due... I've noticed a dramatic improvement in this Practice over the last few months. There seems to be better availability of appointments and the repeat prescription system is working efficiently and very quickly. Although the reception staff are clearly busy, they take time to help with issues and follow through with any requests or actions. A big thank you to Antonella who has helped me consistently in getting my elder family member the help they need. I know all practices are under pressure but at the moment i'd have no hesitation in recommending St Johns. Well Done!
From travel vaccinations to routine appointments I’ve visited the practice on several occasions over the last few months and can only say the experience has been excellent. Antonella and Jane are warm, friendly and very efficient, can usually get an appointment within 10 days for non-urgent or same day if urgent. Maybe things were better in a mythical past but hard pressed to find a GP surgery offering much better at present when stretched. Have had very good telephone appointments that were on time for things that don’t need to be seen in person and effective, on time in-person appointments. I’d read the reviews before moving into the area and St. John’s was one of the few places accepting patients, naturally was a bit concerned. The reality is on recent experience, this is a very good GP practice where you CAN get an appointment. Unrealistic expectations of a stretched service do not provide a representative view of the practice.
After waiting over 1 hour 30 mins on the phone to get to talk to someone it disconnected , so decided to go there in person to make an appointment for my 82 year old mother who is fragile losing weight not sleeping and is very sick and needs to see a Dr. The receptionist told me 10th September no where near quick enough , or I can phone back at 8am in the morning to wait 1 or more hours waiting for an answer. Bearing in mind the surgery had 1 person in the waiting room , the level of care is just not there receptionist was quite rude and uncaring.
I had a phone appointment. My phone rang twice, I answered and guess what missed call. Now I have missed my appointment altogether. I spent longer trying to book it than the Dr did calling. Please give people chance to answer for god's sake, we all have busy lives. I now have to try and book another one, and not with any confidence on getting one in the near future
