Beyond happy with the team at Amherst, the receptionists were able to arrange appointments for my family and I very quickly and doctors were readily available to help us and even see us on the same day. I also had a referral made within two weeks. Just amazing service and people.
First class service as always at Amherst. Chris at reception greeted me warmly and went the extra mile to help with a couple of queries. I then saw Tina for an ECG, she was so lovely, polite, extremely professional and reassuring. Dr Barrett, GP, is the best GP my husband and I have had. She truly cares about her patients, is very caring and through. All round fantastic team, thank you all
One or two of the receptionists are in the wrong job. Very rude but I guess that is the NHS for you. A job for life and unaccountable . I just rang up for a doctor’s phone call and the receptionist said…‘it’s a bit late in the day’!. It was 11.55am. I rang back and a young girl with perfect phone manners booked me in. It doesn’t take much to be nice to patients when their health is involved.
Both myself and my partner have telephoned to make appointments and have both separately had horrible experiences with an extremely rude receptionist. I don’t know why an individual with such a horrible attitude and complete lack of sympathy & people skills is in a patient-facing role, but it’s unacceptable for her to treat people with such disrespect when they are at their most vulnerable. Dr Jackson was kind and able to help me with my problem, but I will be looking to move GP practice immediately. Both myself and my parter have worked in Healthcare for 10-years and never seen anything like it. Change careers!
I have been with Amherst Medical surgery since 2010 and won't change for the world! So amazing, caring and kind. My GP is Dr Tosh, and I can't give him enough praise. I've dealt with some of the other GPS as well, although a number have been replaced. But Dr Tosh is so specia - always patient, and interested in one's life. He brought out the best in me.Thank you so much !
I've been thoroughly impressed with Amherst Medical Practice since we moved here in July 2020. The quality of care is fantastic, I love that you're assigned a doctor and they continue your care so there's no re-explaining your history to multiple docs. I've had same day appointments on more than one occasion for my boys, and I always feel like the doctors really care. They are good at managing expectations re appointments/communications, and as a result I have never been dissatisfied with time taken to speak to a Doctor or hear back from a nurse or anything like that. Really well run.
I must say reading all the negative reviews, has really shocked me. I have been with this practise for about a year now. I have never had a problem getting an appointment. The receptionists can never do enough for me and are always so helpful. Dr White is currently helping me and I must say she is very thorough, always calls back if I need to ask advice and i instantly felt comfortable. Thank you. Some reviews have been quite rude…. But you cannot please everyone and I think those people must be very hard to please or woke on the wrong side of the bed!!
The receptionists are awful. Very rude, arrogant and miserable. They speak to you like they are angry that you called them to book an appointment. I’ve actually been stood in the reception area of this practice waiting to speak to a receptionist who let the phone ring out continuously while she had her non work related conversation with her colleague whilst also ignoring me. The doctors are fine but they need to replace all the receptionists for ones that actually sound like they care and enjoy their job!
My 81yo Mum was referred for a dermatology procedure at this practice. We went to her appointment, and were told by the consultant’s nurse that the consultant was running 45 minutes late. We were told that if we couldn’t wait, we could rearrange. When we tried to do this, we couldn’t find the nurse in question. I went to reception and tried to ask a receptionist where said nurse may be. She didn’t give me a chance to explain, and told me that if we weren’t waiting, we would be discharged and would have to be re-referred by our GP. When I tried to explain what the nurse had said, the receptionist decided to answer a ringing phone and speak to that person - leaving me standing at reception with no answers. I went and sat back down, and then overheard the three receptionists speaking loudly about MY attitude! I can’t comment about the GP’s, but the receptionists are disgustingly rude. So pleased this isn’t my surgery!!!!!
I rang at 10am today on behalf of my mother, as it was Monday morning it was obviously very likely an extremely busy time. I cannot praise highly enough the care my mother received. Due to chronic health conditions I requested and received a home visit from their roving paramedic Mark who was brilliant in every aspect on how he dealt with my mum, he listened to what was said and understood everything perfectly. He followed up with a phone call as promised after he had spoken to the GP and sent a prescription to the pharmacy early evening. Seriously impressed, thank you Amherst Medical Practice
