Worked there for nearly a full year, eventually handed my notice in due to moving house and thought all was well. They ended up withholding my final paycheck from me for six weeks, ignoring my calls and emails, and being rude and evasive when they did reply. Eventually they simply agreed to pay me what I was owed when I told them I was seeking legal aid. There are numerous other stories from my time there too. They lose a lot of staff habitually. I would not recommend working there.
Amazing school, amazing staff. My son absolutely flourished due to all the brilliant support from teachers & his friends. Highly recommended.
My son really appreciated his time here.
Ex-student They like a certain type of person and if your not that then your no good. Students were privileged and had a superiority complexespecially the boys. If you are thinking of sending your child especially if they are a girl here, don’t. Another take away from my experience was- private school doesn’t always mean its the best of the best. When I have children of my own I will think twice about private education as for my experience it was not worth the money.
As a student here, I would recommend this school . The senior school had very good support for all children even those with additional needs. The staff are very friendly and very supportive. The food is excellent too. Finally the sixth form is great for those considering this school after GCSEs. There is a great choice of subjects, and class sizes are small and great for learning. Overall sending your child here would be a great benefit for both their social and educational development Edit: After the end of my time this school, it has been a wonderful school for my confidence and development from the day I joined till my final day.
St George’s school is an outstanding school, and our son is thriving both academically and personally. The staff are fully engaged, enthusiastic and it feels like one big happy family. The environment is unpressured, the class sizes are small, the children feel happy and relaxed and we are very grateful to be part of the St George’s community.
Our son has spent seven years at St George’s and from a rocky start in education he has gained 3 A’levels and we are very proud of him and grateful to the school. The SEN team has worked hard to help him in what were sometimes challenging situations, whilst having to manage their own time and money constraints. As is so often the case, communication between school and parents could have been better. The child is not a good conduit, and I felt I could have been ‘on message’ more if I had known what the message was. On the whole staff were warm and encouraging and we have many examples of them going above and beyond to help. We really appreciated their ability to show flexibility when it was required, especially in the 6th form. I think schools are tough places for staff and pupils, but St George’s stayed the course and stuck with my son and saw him through. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Being in the school from the lower school right up to the 6th form was the best decision I ever made. Not only was I encouraged to trial for Birchfield Harriers Athletics Academy ,and later join, by the PE staff, but the music and drama teachers aided me in building my confidence, allowing me to grow in my theatrical abilities and performing in many plays. In regards to my academic ability, coming from a different private school in which I often struggled to understand content and was made to feel sub par due to poor grades, the teachers at St. George's went above and beyond, offering extra help and time in order to ensure my thorough understanding of the content. My time at St. George's has solidified my academic success, allowing me to get above average in my LNAT exam, leading to me getting University offers from various Russel Group universities such as Kings College London and the University of Nottingham. Not only was their emphasis on academic and extra curricular achievement, but forming trust worthy relationships with staff enabled me to feel safe and welcome at school. I couldn't recommend a better establishment!
My son has SEN, despite being given every assurance that St George’s would take him under their wing the reality after a short period of time was very different and truly shocking. They failed him and us at a time when he also was under the fantastic care of Birmingham Children’s Hospital having suffered very worrying and serious medical issues. The measure of any organisation and indeed school is how they treat their most vulnerable members. St George’s management in my experience have no concept of this and lack any empathy, I would now advise parents to look elsewhere for their children’s education.
As a former student of this school I can say i had a wonderful time there and achieved a lot whilst studying at that school, from getting into one of my preferred universities to getting a scholarship for said university along with getting some additional qualifications in the cyber security field. Further more whilst attending that school I also found out that I was dyslexic and once i found out about my condition i got all the support I needed with my disability there from gaining extra time to using coloured paper to help with my reading and writing abilities which helped me loads in my academic goals as it meant that i could finally read my own notes back and i could understand why words just seemed to move about the page and become a blur. But enough about that overall i think its a wonderful school were most students and staff alike care about what they are doing and are willing to put in the work to make it a better place for people to study of all abilities to achieve what they want out of there academic lives
