Delightful rural church at the head of the Kentmere valley. Never locked as it’s also a refuge for walkers. A very special atmosphere. So special we got married here.
The information boards inside are excellent. Check out the war grave; poor bloke died on VE day. His brother is buried elsewhere there, 68 yrs later. A beautiful church in a stunning setting
Beautiful, breathtaking setting but don't bother trying to park. Locals clearly don't want visitors as soooo many "no parking/private/etc" signs. Understandable as only access road long, windy and mostly very narrow. Must be a nightmare in or out of walking season. And a busy factory half way up that road.
Good place to park for the Kentmere Horseshoe walk. Just bare in mind that there aren't a lot of spaces and it fills up quick and early. Take some change to post into the wall if you're parking and be respectful of the church and graveyard
If you want to walk the Kentmere round then get here early to park. Most spaces are usually gone by 8am and there is parking for about 8 cars, and we parked further down the lane, and please be aware it is a very narrow road and difficult to get by if people block access, but if in doubt park further back down the valley and walk in.
Could only visit the graveyard, couldn't enter the church - it is closed as they can t meet the standard for distancing
Lovely little church in the middle of nowhere. Added interest is that is the site of Commonwealth war graves.
Set in the end of Kentmere Valley. With lovely hills not far from Kentmere Tarn.
Nice place to park for a great walk around the Kentmere Horseshoe
