Story

SQ Bar & Grill is the modern European restaurant at the Ramada Encore in Belfast's new cultural centre, Cathedral Quarter. Its central location - walking distance from the city centre – means it makes an ideal stop off after a day in the city or a trip to Victoria Square shopping centre. Like the rest of the hotel, SQ Bar & Grill is decorated in a modern, minimalist style, but still conveys a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and diners can choose between a table with a view out over Saint Anne's Square, or a booth for a more intimate dining experience. The menu ranges from full dishes like slow roast pork belly with bubble and squeak, or char grilled tuna Niçoise, as well as light snacks like salt and chilli squid or moreish club sandwiches. Traditional dishes, locally sourced ingredients and modern presentation are the strong suits here, and there's also an extensive wine list and a wide range of spirits, beer and cocktails.

Steak was inedible and impossible to chew at this place. 3 of us had it, all of us sent it back. Twice. We left after taking 2 bites and they refused to cancel the charge. To be fair seafood platter was really good. If you must come here don’t get steak.
Had a nice evening at SQ with my wife. Started with Mushroom Soup of the day, and Beef Chilli Nachos. Followed by Mussels in White Wine Sauce and Tomato and Basil Risotto. Generally good service and food. Mushroom soup was “Amazing” I was told. Minus 1 star for for the beef chilli Nachos. Lacking in depth of flavour and richness. Could do with being slow cooked in a better quality sauce.
What a delight this place is! A fantastic menu, superb quality food, cool decor, really lovely staff and fun stuff like cocktail making as well! Very highly recommended.
Fabulous cocktails, great seating and friendly staff. A little bit too dark on the drinking side of the bar but I realise its meant to be. Food is amazing, though sadly this night the chips were a bit underdone. Highly recommended though
Amazing service and food as always. came on Sunday without booking, thought we'll chance it. And they found us a table without problem! Orders came fast and as always delicious. We had pizzas for kids, super salad with smoked salmon and mussels, followed by sticky toffee puddings, ice creams and sorbets. All very tasty!
Very Special ‘ Specials Menu ‘ and Pizzas Really great value meals at SQ. Top end and imaginative meals which change regularly, I really like the lighting and the huge chandelier that Del Boy would be proud of ! You get a first class service from the very smart team, closely overseen by Olly. Hayden has created a wonderful bar and drinks experience and first class cocktails. The design of the building is lovely and unmissable on the right as you enter the centre of Braunton. Vegetarian options: As you are able to book in advance, they will cater for you Kid-friendliness: They even have board games for the children, just ask Wheelchair accessibility: Double doors straight off the pavement
I have just had a meal with four members of my family at SQ Bar and Restaurant. Two burgers were okay, the sea bass was okay. My daughters chicken burger had a tiny blood inside it which means to me that it wasn't well done. Being a connoisseur of Thai food I ordered the Thai Green Curry, it was the worst I have ever had because the curry was very watery and it lacked the coconut milk which should have been used in its preparation. Thai Green Curry should be thick and creamy with a rich taste of coconut flavour. Upon pointing out all the above to the manager, he was simply non apologetic. I'll give that restaurant a big thumbs down and 1 star.
Food was ok, Thai curry was highly spicy if you like that kind of thing and the service was great. However our table we booked in advance was sticky and dirty, our glasses had wine stains and looked filthy, our salt and pepper pots had sauce stains, even though there was no sauce on the table.
A Sheppard's pie to die for and Sticky toffee pudding with Hockings ice cream was just perfect, definitely making a special trip back for that meal again. Just a bit more communication between food servers and the kitchen and all the boxes are tickedFood: 5/5
Went for our Xmas works party had a great time food was very tasty & plentiful , but a bit too salty for me and quite a few others in our group desert was excellent very nice atmosphere excellent service from happy and friendly staff. Will definitely revisit & recommendFood: 4/5
