A beautiful hidden gem that, alongside Henry's bar, decorates Joy's Entry seasonally and at the time of this review playing tasteful Christmas tunes that are difficult not to sing along to. Spacious outside covered area just sets this place off. More effective patio heaters rather than the current decorative ones would be welcome.
The Jailhouse has great food and cocktails with excellent service. Tables inside and outside under cover. Hidden down Joy's Entry it is worth hunting out. For more formal dining choose Henry's, named after Henry Joy McCracken, the United Irishman who led the rebellion in Belfast.
Excellent cocktails and very knowledgeable staff. Had a very interesting conversation about birds getting stuck in the ceiling! Very pleasant experience and well worth another trip to Northern Ireland to go there again.
I wouldn’t recommend this pub. I thought they are racist- the bartender doesn’t respect their guest, at least myself. I order my 1st drink and came to the 1st floorall good, then one staff came to told me the 1st should be closed whole day on Saturday, so I went downstairs to confirm with the bartender, he told me-yes, I didn’t see you go upstairs, no apologies and ignored anything I said , just went away, rough, horrible. Don’t come to this pub. The man said - I don’t care your comments, so it’s not good you plan to come-especially you are not white people. He is so rough!! If you come, you won’t get anything except disappointing and bias. So many good bar/pub in Belfast, I think it’s not necessary come here for unhappiness. I should say- one day you are a loser, perhaps it’s lifelong for youthe boy, enjoy!!!
The Jailhouse has become my No1 go-to in Belfast for a relaxing pint, sometimes foodwhich is excellent and most of all a relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff. I nearly always sit outside and enjoy the ambience whilst watching people go by up & down Joy's entry. Adjoining Henry's is another perfect option for drinks & same high quality food, & often live entertainment later at weekends. LOVE it..and so does my son as photo shows
Had a really enjoyable meal and drinks here on New Years Day. Ox cheek main course superb, Malbec delicious. Nuno very courteous. Whole experience excellent - WE WILL BE BACK!
Awesome bar. Fast and friendly staff. Music was banging. Bathroom’s definitely needed some attention though
Nice guiness draught. Football on. Nice area.
Well located, quality pub catering well to dietary restricted customers. Thought the barstaff could've been slightly friendlier but they were efficient and serve decent cocktails.
Called in for lunch yesterday around 1pm with 2 kids and dog as advertised as dog-friendly bar. Told we could sit outside by one waiter then another waitress came out and said that area was only for over 18s so couldnt sit there with kids. She said we could eat inside in restaurant. When we walked into the restaurant yet another waiter then told us they weren't taking walk-ins. Very poor service we will not be back.
