A great place to buy cheap outdoor and sports wear and equipment. I normally don't don't like going to sports direct but this direct is friendlier and a world away from Oxford Street flagstore. There is a nice woman who always tells me closing is in 30 seconds and there are some friendly young staff members which help me out with my shoes ect.. and at the tills. Most sports direct do not look inviting to me they might be newer but they do not look friendly with a big security guard at the door where's this sports direct has a more local feeling. The shop is clean and tidy inside with nothing else place although the shop could use a modernization especially on the exterior where it looks particularly rundown having some newer signage would make the shop a lot more attractive to me from the outside.
After a second disappointing visit to this store I feel need to leave the review. The store is vast but trying to find anyone to help is nigh on impossible and even when you do find an assistant he points you towards another area of the store where there was nobody around. If you aren’t going to assist customers with their purchase then how do you expect people to buy anything ? Shoes especially. We decided to leave all the items we had picked up as we required footwear which was our main reason for entering the store in the first place. We will just have to wait until get home and visit our local store where we always get friendly help and assistance.
OK its not the biggest SD but you can always buy on line and get a £5 discount voucher when collecting for your order . Good addition to Porthmadog. Last year I had to get my SD order delivered to my campsite, this year I could collect my order and saved£5 on my child's shoes I Bought in store which is then only cost me £10. Great really friendly helpful staff. Reading reviews in google this does not apply here and they answer phone, another complaint about some SD shops
Always walked our dog into the shop with never any problems until last week when, having entered the store a member of staff shouted to me that dogs are not allowed. I asked since when and was told since April 2021 so I queried why we had been allowed to take her in only 2 weeks ago. No reply. I looked for signs at entrance stating no dogs but couldn't see any at entrance. Today I went in to shop again, minus dog, and the no dogs sign was at the tills, at the rear of the store. Ridiculous. Tried on trainers and eventually chose a pair to buy but the help I received from staff was negligible. Unfortunately nowhere else in Porthmadog I can buy sportswear
About the same level of service expected as per every other sports direct. And about the only company that isn't dog friendly in North Wales. Shame on you
Exactly as I would expect on a rainy Sunday afternoon. A single member of staff trying to serve a stream of tired people. Depressing, but has reasonable stuff at bargain prices. Just have to wait a long time to find out if they have your size
Poor experience . I was waiting 10 minutes for an assistant to check size of a pair of trainers to be told it was not their part of the shoe wall! They would find someone else. After a further 5 minutes we left the trainers and other things in the basket and left the store. Very poor customer service! The store was not particularly busy!
Awesome store very helpful staff, The female staff member in the trainers department was very helpful as was the female staff member on the tills 100% will shop here again
I was served by a very helpful staff lady who assisted me and my mother in buying the correct pair of shoes fitted to my size. she was very understanding and was extremely knowledgeable about the products they had and were quick to help out when we needed it. Lovely service, would visit again!
Its a large retail discount sports shop, not always tidy around the shop floor. This is probably down to staff shortages at present. The store is well stocked for most sports it also has an online facility.
