I attended 3 appointments including having a colonscopy at One hospital part of the Spencer group and was booked to have an operation at Spencer hospital. One month after this was booked they cancelled this saying it would be rebooked. I waited one month for this to be done and it has turned out this infact would not be rebooked as they feel it would be unsafe to do the procedure even though this has been done before.nnThey did not bother to contact me to explain this and showed me no consideration. Despite me attending multiple appointments and thousands being spent on these as a result of being told this could be done here. This took 6 months of my life pursuing this with them.nnI therefore have complained about this and i’m further shocked by the way this is being completely dismissed. The hospital owed me a duty of care especially given the sums of money involved however they have completely failed on this. They seem to show no remorse or recognise just how big of a deal it is to waste 6 months of someone’s life then not even bother to notify them of why or that it would not be rebooked.nnTo me it seems that this hospital is extremely disorganised and does not care about patients or patient care whatsoever. As a result of this cancellation and complete lack of communication I have experienced significant distress and am depressed yet all they do is say well oops sorry we’ve decided we will not do it. We didn’t inform you oh well the booking team didn’t know.nnIm actually incredibly shocked by this and anyone who is contemplating using them should avoid it in my opinion.
As a self paying patient, I was shocked to receive a quote for my treatment that was close to 30% higher than at a nearby site operated by a different provider, and the quote I originally received. All of this rise was down to the fees charged by the hospital which were 60% higher than the other, with costs for medical staff the same for both. I would like someone to reach out and explain why these costs are so much higher given the fees for the consultant and surgery are the same.nnThis represents poor value for a self paying patient, and there are more of us now given the rise in NHS waiting lists.nnThank younnTom

His professional approach, care and attitude were brilliant and following a procedure to correct the condition I am pain free for the first time in years.nnI would never hesitate in recommending Mr Lau and the whole team at Spencer to anyone.nnThank you

Dreadful service. Uncomfortable beds. And to make matters worse I dozed off one afternoon and was abruptly woken up repeatedly by another guest who was constantly yelling 'they've taken my leg!'.
