Phoned in advance and contrary to some other garages car was ready for me to look at and drive when I arrived. Sales guy was nice, gave me the key and left me alone to look over the car. Nothing took too long to do, they accept credit cards so all in all a nice straightforward purchase. Had no reason to contact them since so can't comment on their warranty or post-sales etc.
Avoid. Bought an Audi A5 from this dealer in May of 2018 and was very excited. I thought I had taken the extra precautions paying significantly extra to have the car serviced to a mechanic of Southsea's choice no doubt and when the service papers came back it said the car was spotless. No doubt it wasn't. In fact I doubt the car was serviced at all as within the year I've had it I've had problems with the water pump, brake calipers, injectors, exhaust, oil sump and undertray. The car also had one car matt in it, which I believed was there to protect the carpet but it was actually only there so Southsea could hide the holes in the carpet from me. In total the car has cost me over £3000 in repairs since owning it, and I paid Southsea Motors nearly £2000 more than the cars estimated market value. In other words, due to Southsea Motors, I'm £5000 out of pocket. I'm gutted at this point and massively in debt. The problems started shortly after the car was out of warranty and had only done 2,500 miles. I rang Southsea and they said they wouldn't cover it since it was now out of warranty. When I explained the stress the situation had caused me and how I believed they had sold me a car that was not safe they were very rude and put the phone down on me. I've not had contact since but have had more repair bills. I'm now taking the legal route and contacting a solicitor to help me resolve this issue. I've read reviews that show similar experiences. This is 100% a bad dealership. They are clearly buying cars that are in bad condition for cut price, and paying for botched service and MOT records in order to sell there cars. They sell dodgy cars for a premium price because they claim they are a reputable business and offer you various ploys in order to provide you with some piece of mind. As well to show how they operate, the car had no petrol in when I bought. As in it literally had the petrol light on and was sucked dry. Avoid at all costs you won't have a good experience and will 100% lose big money.
After looking forever for a decent car I came across these gentlemen. They helped me pick out a car that was perfect for me. I didn't feel pressured into buying anything but after I sat with the salesman and he talked me through it I just had to get it! The car itself was immaculate and drove like a dream on the test drive! And I was assured that if I needed help or advice with anything I could pop back in to see them. Would highly recommend this company!
I bought my funky red Fiat 500L from Southsea Motor Company 6 weeks ago and I am so pleased with her! Our old car had been written-off in an accident and we had spent weeks trawling the internet and test-driving several other Fiats. I was beginning to get desperate, as I had a limited budget, didn't want to compromise with high mileage and didn't have the time or inclination to travel to Scotland where most of the other reasonably priced Fiat 500Ls were! Then my Roxy popped up on Cargurus - the perfect price, low mileage, red and less than 1 mile away! Arthur, the main salesman was very straight-forward and honest . He wasn't at all pushy and let us have a good look at the car by ourselves before we took her out for a test-drive. The car was by far the best one we had seen for the price: excellent condition both inside and out with a full service history. Arthur arranged an MOT, and she sailed through it. Six weeks on, Roxy runs smoothly and I have had no problems at all. I will definitely go back when I need my next car.
We had looked at A LOT of cars before visiting Southsea Motors, all over the South from Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex. Arthur the sales guy was great. Very pleasant and easy to deal with. We felt he was genuine and we did not feel pushed at all. We picked up our new car last night and so far so good. A very satisfied customer :
Great Staff Shame the Director doesn't know how to run a legitimate business, purchased a car from these guys had quite serious problems with in 24 hours, took it back and allowed them to fix it as we all assume the best and that it was just a teething issues great! happened again less than a month later and again once more after that. Now to recap I'm a few days in to 4 months ownership now and they have had my car for over a month and offered me a poultry sum to take it back! chap should have worn a hat and a red nose!! he has consistently dodged the issue all together so at this space in time i am left with out a car or money!!! great service guys really well done! TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE ATTITUDE
I hope this posts saves a few people thinking of purchasing a lot of issues! I wouldn't recommend purchasing a car from here, i first had the wrong wipers fitted on the car and they aided me to be driving in heavy rain with them getting caught n almost snapping, when I called to see if they correctly fit them they told me wasntvsoveree n only a tenner to fix, this was a wrk of buying they at, I let that slide. I ended up spending £700 3months after purchasing which in between I had told the garage there was an issue that they claimed they then fixed, turns out they didn't and I drove it making the problem worse. Just had my first mot since purchase which the garage did before I brought it this garage couldn't get over that I hadn't crashed it since the last mot as it was held together with gable ties. The head lights were not fitter n just placed along with a few other things! I tried to spk with the garage but they ignored emails and calls and I cut my loses! They tried to make out my 3months warranty was over to discover later 6months is legal requirement.I would definitely not recommend this garage!
Awful. The cars are packed in like sardines which should of been red light, the sales man took no time at all to show me around the car either and stayed in his booth with vague answers to any questions I had. The technique used was: That's the car, this is the paperwork I have, take it or leave it. After a test drive, the car was purchased on finance. The car broke down 2 days later still under the 30 day warranty I brought it back a few days later when it was 'convenient for them' and it was kept for over 2 weeks. I picked it up and again this time 1 week later, the car broke down again. I was now 5000 in debt with a broken car of which southsea motors claimed no liability as the warranty had ended and i was then even told the extra cover I purchased under advice of the salesman my attempt to cover my back was useless due to both the type of fault, and it's lack of service history. Awful, conning and disrespectful. I would NOT reccomend this company to anyone that needs a car for anything other than scrap metal or a means of losing money. Disgusted
Untrustworthy unreliable and unreasonable, please save yourself the bother of going through the angst that this place will gladly leave you with. When you have that thought and apprehension about the integrity of used car dealerships, spending your hard earned cash and expecting a decent motor, go with your instincts on this place, avoid, do yourself a favour, it's not worth your time or money. I'm hoping that by writing this review it will help others and weed out and help eliminate these horrendous thieves....over and out.
Cancelled the finance agreement on my car due to the awful service - had no faith in the car at all - the sales person Arthur is completely insincere, full of utter trash talk and gives credible dealerships a very bad name. The place is an utter shambles, the last straw was when collecting my car they had not taxed or cleaned it as promised - they had lost my driving licence and you should trust your instincts when using this place. Avoid at all costs.
